Hi all, I have a question here..

So I was hunting for a job in singapore and applied some jobs thru Jobstreet.. some of the applications are under direct company application while some are under recruitment company.

So there was a person from recruitment company called me up for an interview and this noon I had my interview session with him.. The interview went smoothly and he introduced the job position (company background, benefits, allowance + OT etc) that I have applied for.

Then at the end of the interview, the interviewer said he will send my CV to the company and it's up to the company whether they'd like to interview me again or not..

So with the help of recruitment agency, do you think the chance of me being called up will be high? hmm.gif

I have been sending applications since 2 weeks+ ago and today was the first interview sad.gif

nah... i think the rate is more like 1800-2500 for a legally rentable 3 room hdb (2 bedrooms).. anything smaller is not legal although you can see ads going for around 800-1k for studio hdbs which are actually illegal
*
May i know why it's illegal? I was thinking to rent smthg similar here

omg ...what a waste of time . Recruiter hasnt even send the resume to the company yet .

From what i know recruiter will filter and shortlist the right candidate 1st.. if can just send resume to the company with no filter then why they need recruitment agency right? Haha.. smile.gif

Hi taikos.. *raise hand*

I've been invited to an interview by a company. The first interview went quite well and I can see the interviewer likes me very much. He has also said that if I were hired then he'd be my supervisor. However, I still need to have an interview with the department manager before I could secure the job. So he said he will forward my documents and resumes to the department manager and if the DM wants to have an interview with me, the HR will contact me. *The interview lasted for 45 minutes FYI*

*5 hrs after the interview ended* and the HR called me to have an interview with the DM.

So I had my second interview session conducted by the DM this time few hours ago. These were the questions being asked by the DM.

*Intro yourself
*Tell me about your family members - where they are working, how much is their pay
*Tell me your hobbies
*Tell me what is the most exciting moment in your university life
*Tell me what is the most depressed moment in your university life
*Tell me why the reason why you have applied for job in our company
*Do you know how is the working environment here?

Ok so those are the questions. However, none of the questions discussed about the job position that I applied. Other than those questions, we chit chat about other non-relevant stuff.

The interview lasted for 30 mins and all I felt was the DM was trying to 敷衍 me.. sweat.gif

According to the first interviewer (supervisor), if I pass thru the DM and If I were selected, my application would still need to be processed by the HR department but however, the process wouldn't be taking too long (in around a week). BUT

According to the DM, he still need to have a meeting with dunno who and who before confirmation of my application. The process takes about 2 weeks to a month. (much longer time)

Anyway, I might be worried too much but do you think I still stand a chance of getting the job? As what my frens said, my chance of securing the job is much much higher as I made it to the second interview after all. What say you?

dont need to think so much, just go wif d flow.. no point thinking so much, it wont help your chances also... think bout how to prepared for the next stage would be better... wif hr, it is always salary negotiation and benefits..
*
Hmm.. I dont think there will be next stage intervew anymore.. department manager would be the final stage.. if i were selected then most probably hr sends me offer letter and see whether i accept or not..

i suggest you keep looking for job,it is impossible you wait for their reply for two weeks. if two weeks no reply then you are good to move on, if you wait for them and stop looking for job, you will wasted two weeks.
i think the DM last three question is the most important and job related, i can see that the work stress is higher, if work stress higher then working environment is not better also. then reason to apply is mostly will ask by all company hiring manager.
*
Yes, the work stress is quite high for that position but i'm ready for the challenges becoz i really like the job tho.. well, just pray and wait for them and i will oso search for other jobs at the same time.. the last scenario that i want it to be is I only get offered after i'm confirmed by other company which I like lesser.. sweat.gif

It's ok to be hopeful. And by the way u presented it, seems quit fair to say that you have almost secured a job.
However, still look for jobs elsewhere just in case they found a better candidate after you and decided that they want him over you.
We'll be waiting for your good news. thumbup.gif

According to the supervisor there will be few vacancies open for this position tho.. hope this gives me a higher chance.. just wait and pray..

The don't know who will be the DM's boss, the process is long because the boss always busy with his golf and holidays. Hard to make an appointment with him.

Just go with the flow since already done and good luck.

Forgot to mention that I'm just a fresh graduate, so the position that I have applied is basically fresh/entry level.. I don't think that hiring a low-level position like me needs to kacau the boss gua.. lol.. blush.gif

I think your chances looks good, unless screw-up from HR side on the headcount, package, etc.
Or unless the dept manager still need to get approval from higher up.

Dept manager will oversee Supervisor, who will oversee you. What he wants to know is, your attitude, the way you present yourself, etc. whether you can fit into the team and dept or not.
He won't care much about the technical aspect or work knowledge/skill much, because that will be handled by the Supervisor, which already interview you.
icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Oversee meaning? Anyway, from what I heard from the supervisor there are few vacancies available for that position so I'll just wait for a week and see how it goes.. wink.gif

For you guys information, it's actually a semiconductor company, entry level engineering position smile.gif

Sorry, I don't mean to look down on anyone... just trying to find a place nearer to my office... but this particular agent was only interested in letting go of his unit and telling me all sort of nonsense...
Mind sharing how much you're offered, I'm curious about the current market rate...
*
Salary belum disclosed yet as I still need to get confirmation of degree or transcript before offer letter will be issued.. get back to me again after 2 weeks and I might tell u

Any better job portal besides than jobstreets?  How do you guys get jobs frm sg actually.... was wondering
*
I would say Jobstreet is kinda useless for me.. I have applied to more than 50 job openings but none replied.. if you can get the email of the HR, email direct to HR will cut down the queue in my opinion..
