Bro keelim,

I had tried negotiate with the manager, but they said that I still need a lot of training as my experience previously difference with their product.

Regarding the EPF, i don't think I will get that in SG as their EPF/CPF only for PR or Singaporean. So for the time being.. I have to plan my own saving or any suitable investment.

I decide to take the challenge due to few factor such as money conversion, experience, knowledge for boom my career and stay closer to my parents.

Now I still waiting for the EP to ready and hoping that my decision will guide me for better future.. Pray for my success friends... hehehe

Thank you again for your guys advise..

enermax,

marine telco in Petronas ICT , i guess for MMHE pasir gudang?
since you already moved to Johor and stay with your parents, then it is easier to decide , as you had moved from KL > JB already.
Well, u have decided already laugh.gif

its a good offer if 1:1 and even better if the Britain co even give u CPF encashment, which you can save to UT for long term as EPF saving.

like keelim said, mentally and physically prepared for daily commuting in/out SG via Woodlands. Also be mentally and physically prepared working here as its not the same as working in malaysian environment in petronas/mmhe/iperintis.

Hope your EP approved without problem.

anyway, answering your question with my little exp of commuting. Lester1987 has more details.

Cost wise : MY bike vs SG bike
MY bike
Daily S$4 VEP
Daily S$5 ERP if no IU - if your route to office has ERP gantry activated during your travelling to office.
Else pay SG$100+ for IU installation.
Petrol can fill in MY Ron95
Pakai till bike kaput or 20 yrs ++
Can buy Naza Blade 250 whistling.gif
Kapcai EX5 cheap to buy and maintain.

SG Bike
No VEP
ERP paid as per gantry charged
Petrol still can fill MY Ron95
Pakai till 10yrs (if new) or buy used renew COE later (S$2k)
3rd party ins for <200CC is ~ S$300
Kapcai price is 1:1 MY price. whistling.gif

Bro keii-kun,

My current work now in Petronas is to monitor the progress of Comm. Infra. Upgrade for all Petronas offshore Platform in Terengganu, Sarawak and Sabah. Never get the chance to visit MMHE at pasir gudang.

Yup bro, I already firm with my decision to take the offer in SG and hope that my EP will be ready in short time.

Thank you bro for the motorcycle riding cost from MY to SG. It is really helpful to made me allocate all the daily budget.

But the best part is how you know that I own Naza Blade 250... because I already used the bike for 1 year and proud to be the members of Blade community.... heheheee
*
naza blade is a lucky guess. but, I strongly suggest , if your future co in Sg is office hour based job, e.g non-flexible shift, better buy a used EX5 or any other cheap bike. Zerg rush to SG in AM and back to MY in PM can be pretty nasty for you and your Blade.

MMHE was a guess since I thought you already moved to JB.

Lester, big bike stuck in Causeway jam is not good.
Zerglings do not care for others as you care for yourself. Need to get construction earplugs also if you want your hearing protected. Loud, honking zerglings are another thing.

If you are bike lover, for sure she will be scarred everyday. Kena the signal broken, everyday will feel angry.
Big bikes also cannot push slowly so have to keep on running the engine and play FREE, gear 1, FREE. Very tiring lah.

oh ya, i'm a safe driver/rider and old also. >30yr

ok, pros and cons for causeway and 2nd link listed below.
2nd link
2. riders in 2nd link is like barbarian. they squeeze until you got no place to put your leg down and u need to step on other ppl's bike. (a lot of factory in Tuas) - i did not know that. Woodlands so far zerglings never squeeze until like that.

causeway
pros
3. people are basically more considerate, (never once i kena squeeze until no place put down my leg) : true also but i no zerglings, just happened to morph as one when coming back from JB
cons
if u got halau to the back lane by immigration, prepare to queue 1 hour. means your queue lane kena stop? i kena before, just few more bikes only then kena stop

*

They don't horn for no reason like a barbarian. They horn because some idiot blocked the way waiting for the Aux police to open the front lane.
It cause a massive jam at the back. Don't have to scare the police will catch u even if u horn, coz the police will catch the fellow blocking the road instead of you.
from my experience, the lane is already jammed, massive or not, no point honking and making things more stressed. And yes, they are honking like a monkey got horn first time. not being considerate at all. Queue quietly la, i dun see any problem being quiet, but zerglings are used to it.

Yeah I was planning to avoid ERP. So if I understand correctly, if you don't have I.U. unit then you'll have to pay flat-rate for ERP per day, but if you do have it then it will be charge accordingly (based on time and day/public holiday).

I'm planning to bring my whole family here, that's why I want to explore option of staying in Johor.
*
driving in via 2nd link, apart from VEP, 2nd is the toll. rather than driving to JE and part, better drive directly to Tg Pagar like Mackiddo said or just take bus from Gelang Patah? Is your shift pattern ends after midnight? else, stay on JB side, take woodlands.

deodorant, moving to sg with childrens is not cheap. HDB will be almost $2K, childcare costs a bomb, and public school have no place for 3rd class citizen.

enermax no need to convert lah. just use My for a year, and see how. please read there is a condition, where you will need to convert after 1 year if you reside in SG. Key is Asean , relevant driving license authority

read below
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

as for license cancellation, JPJ will block but not cut.(but we dunno really block or not as per Ivan said he could still renew after convert) and Singapore TP side also won't cut your license.

if you worry, then before extract, renew for 5 years straightaway. then extract > do conversion.
but then again, no point also as your SG driving license valid in Msia.

amad108, if it challenges too much on religion line, just move back to MY or quit the job. Its your personal call. Hope your PM can re-shift you back to MY laugh.gif

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 21 2013, 03:08 PM)
The Berjaya Air flight to Redang at 3pm yesterday was cancelled at 2:55pm because of "weather conditions".

The Firefly flight to Subang at 3.30pm was initially scheduled to be delayed until they boarded early at 3pm. To beat the worsening haze I think.

My 3pm Firefly flight to Ipoh was delayed until we boarded at 3:30pm. Sat on the runway for another 30 minutes waiting for takeoff clearance. Luckily we were allowed to take off instead of being asked to return to the gate.

Today is worse than yesterday. And if tomorrow is as bad as today... I'd say you'd be in for a 50:50 touch and go experience.
*
Was on the same FY3546 flight laugh.gif. was a bit panic when they have not asked passenger to board the flight by 3.00pm and announced redang flight canceled. heard from another fy passenger, berjaya air cancelled flight the day before (19th) due to technical. but on 20th was weather in redang was bad.

Luckily no cancellation as flying alone with my toddler. tomorrow returning to sg thumbup.gif

Such a coincidence. Yeah, have not felt so relieved to get final clearance for takeoff in a very long time.
*
Yeah, was very relieved even they called to board! Everyone looks anxious to get on the plane to return home.

keeystar cheap mixed rice would be around ~2.50 - 3.00 average. common in many food courts .you should save on other expenses instead of food as it keeps you going in this hectic city

Ipoh; keeping my fingers crossed. Hope the end of air route monopoly. But not sure if Ipoh's runway can take A320.
*
My experience firefly either friday evening or any weekday flights, always at least 90% full, so the demand is there, especially friday evening SIN-IPH and Sunday evening/Mon AM IPH-SIN. the least tiger can do is to pounce on the weekend trip also ok. no need to be every day. just dilute the monopoly can already.

always has been considering to land in PEN instead but not worth the time/fare saved from it.

hope get approval thumbup.gif

js - if u consider whole unit for you of course expensive, but sharing 4pax, ok la condo with facilities

Landing in Penang, Subang or Seremban is no issue. Finding the transport to get home to Ipoh is the real problem.

The real beauty of flying out of Ipoh airport is the fact that the airport is a metropolitan airport in the middle of the city, like Subang. It takes less than 10 minutes to get from Ipoh airport to my house in Ipoh Garden. Sure beats taking a 3 hour Yoyo bus trip to Seremban to fly out of SIA.
*
my pain in the ass maybe can be temporarily relieved if the double tracking completed soon so i can take express train from Ipoh to taiping or KLIA>KL Sentral>Taiping as now taxi charges rm140 for ipoh-taiping route.

QUOTE(ivanswk @ Oct 1 2013, 10:13 AM)
on weekend i commute everyweek back to KL for the past 2 years
on his 20 months i get a maid, train her for few weeks and have my inlaw teach her cooking

quality life improving, no need to travel, less tiring  thumbup.gif
more time , house work delegate to maid  rclxms.gif
breakfast and dinner eat at home ,cheaper  nod.gif

most important, less argument with the other half  laugh.gif
*
thanks for the info on the maid cost. less argument with the other half totally > maid cost sounds very attractive laugh.gif , its the thought of having another complete stranger in house is stopping me n waifu having a maid. cost saving from having bfast n dinner at home, only significant if having more than just 3 pax at home excl maid, as we do not spend much eating outside.

childcare wise, we were lucky that had only to queue for 1mth+ for infant care, now she is in toddler class. was a SAHD for couple of month. next year school fee up 5%.

mackiddo petrol pump station still considered branches of OnG, retail and supply chain side laugh.gif still in the same industry

afiqsabri 3 yrs exp - $4.5k in SG, so now we could roughly estimate what pump master chief jitshiong earns laugh.gif

fiona example of condo/x6 might be the target of most of young working couple in singapore la. can be a good inspiration and shown possible as another couple also shared they managed so save 150k/yr, while enjoying their life here with michelin restaurant.

The firm that i am joining has 9-7pm average according to the hiring manager, and he says that is pretty much the average in the industry. I think for goldman sachs they have a longer working hours compared to the other firms, and research on the internet also confirmed this. But they do pay alot more.

This will be the first time i am joining a european company, i think their working culture is good, from what i learned during the interview. The manager even asked me to hang out this weekend for some drinks n sheesha to casually meet my future team and casually discuss about my future challenge jumping from engineering to banking.

Btw i have been in sg for 2years, just not really active here recently
*
jumping from engineering to banking?
what are you working as right now, resulting in you, making the leap?
