Wanna work in SG, got an offer from Msia company to go down there, but when ask for more details like tax rate etc, they are not providing, ask me to direct ask the supervisor over SG during my first day there. This is dangerous.

Also, if I am to apply for a job in SG, wonder what is my expected salary range.
3 years working exp in Management (Business development)
Degree in Marketing.

Ask them for what? It's your personal income tax. Just surf to Internal Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS)'s website and look at the tax rates.

Your salary is not determined by your experience nor your degree. It is determined by your job.

What field, level and which company is the job in SG? That will tell you the salary.

Of course salary is not determined by exp and education, it depends on job. But your job depends on exp and education level. So it definitely relates.
Not just tax, what about things like epf etc, I've came to understand that some company promises a salary before the tax deduction (charged to employer), this is not suppose to be the case as that cost is supposed to be taken care of by the company. They should inform you of the real salary (not sure if you get what I mean).

Unable to give me an answer regarding the above is rather intriguing to me as my previous jobs has no problem sharing these details with me before joining.

Lastly they should be able to clearly inform me of my take home etc, but they don't even want to tell the limitations etc to the allowance given (they only said 50% deduction in one of the allowance if we are not able to achieve KPI, when I probe further, no answer was given)

I HIGHLY DOUBT any company - that doesn't even have an email domain and uses yahoo freemail to receive job applications - can offer anything worth looking at.

This I agree and looking at the 91, I can only assume its his birth year.

Your income tax is paid by you and not company. Company doesn't know which category you are in as you may have other income/deduction. CPF also depend on you if you want to apply PR/SC or not, and how much to contribute at 1st/2nd year. Best is you work out take home pay yourself with Google and your situation.
Yes, I do understand this. But when probing on tax, what I want to know is just the tax that is enforced unto the employer, I just need to know that the salary offered is really the salary given, don't want SGD 3000 offered, but end of the day, they say SGD700 paid for tax etc.
The reason why I want to clear this is after checking with some friends over there, they say they have seen similar cases and adviced me to be sure that I won't end up in that situation. Proper management will tell that the salary is SGD2300, and not SGD3000.

If ur salary is 3k, the tax won't be as high as 700
plus, SG tax u the following year
so ur salary will still be 3k
the following year, u can choose to pay lump sum or installment

Yes, I know my personal tax won't be that high.

Because this is what I've learnt from my friends in SG, one of them was actually in this situation before, and due to contract, can't resign within 2 years. There is a tax/fees that the employer is charged, but they include it into your total salary, so they can say they are offering SGD3000 instead of SGD2300. My friend's case and some of their friends faced these issue. I just want to clarify this with the company that is offering me, and they have been avoiding some of my question leading me to be a little worried.

i think u r mixing up with msia and sg... msia's way of income tax is like witholding tax... the company will withold a portion of your salary based on a projected annual income.. at the end of the tax/financial year they would ask you to make up the difference vs ur actual income.. so although ur salary is A, u will get less minus the witheld portion

in sg, the coy is only allowed to cut for cpf if eligible.. some coys cut for contract workers as a form of witholding portion just in case the employee break the contract and leave the company to pay for his/her tax which is based on non-residential rate

most probably is withold so just in case he runs and taxed as a non-resident, the company doesnt have to bear it

Don't think its withholding, because my friend never got the money back. She was conned into it, and since she already signed contract and agreement, resigning within one year will result in penalty. That was a painful year.Though it happen quite some time ago, so maybe these sort of things don't happen anymore, but nevertheless, gotta be on my guard right.

QUOTE(wlcling @ Jun 13 2013, 08:52 AM)
nah... i think the rate is more like 1800-2500 for a legally rentable 3 room hdb (2 bedrooms).. anything smaller is not legal although you can see ads going for around 800-1k for studio hdbs which are actually illegal
*
Care to share how is it illegal, was thinking of renting one, especially Studio.

A company asked for my details, I passed them my degree, they don't want it, they say they just accept SPM.. Now I have to go Ministry of Edu to get it. But the thing is I lost the job offer already. So anyone know of any offers around, Channel or Business Development. Or any corporate (B2B) sales job would be nice
