A property agent told me one can apply exemption from HDB prior to the purchase of the resale HDB.
(exemption to own an oversea property for elderly parents)

Another agent told me one can apply all he wants but HDB will not approve such cases as HDB cannot verify if the property is really for elderly parents or for , say rental income.

So.. yes its very headache..
*
i know a married couple, with HDB apartment already, the wife (the only daughter) wanna inherit a house from the parents. Applied exemption from HDB but rejected. Now trying to appeal but I think the odds of getting approve is really slim.
Are your case more extremely than her ?

You just need is a laptop, broadband, forward the office phone to your handphone and some discipline to actually sit down to do 6-8 hours of work in your pajamas.

And it helps that my boss is in the US, and I run my own show in Asia.
*
You are right actually but I can't maintain that kinda discipline of working at home. Also my Co secure connection thru a VPN in KL is painfully slow.

if you can get 1:1 then it's best.
i worked in KL prior to moving here. Not much difference i would say. Travelling time, lesser for me.
Expenses, lower except for rental
workload & stress, no difference for me. Maybe not for other ppl
*
stress ? what stress ? there is no stress working in Sg.

I tried DTF once but can't comprehend the craze for it. The food is not fantastic; the xiao long pao is a mere OK. Definitely not worth my 30 mins. Any dim sum in Ipoh could easily taste better than DTF.
*
in Sg, you could easily find timsum that can tapau all the timsum in Ipoh. why settle for less?

Hi all,
Anyone daily commute by car from JB/Nusajaya to Singapore? I'm wondering how much, roughly, I'm looking to put aside for the costs (VEP, ERP, parking at SG, etc.) excluding petrol.

The reason why I want to commute by car is because my work starts at odd hours, 6.30am and sometimes around 3pm, because of shift pattern.

Any help is very much appreciated.
*
VEP S$20/day, weekday free
ERP S$5 per day (unlimited entry) if no I.U. machine.
HDB parking typically S$1/hr
Toll ?
all this and rest of infos you could easily get it via google or slowly scroll back the pages on this thread.

Thanks Mackiddo. Actually I've done my calculation based on what I found on the web, and the cost close to $1k. Just want to find out from the real experience from peeps over here.

I also want to explore an option to drive to SG and park around Jurong and take the MRT there to Tanjong Pagar.
*
not a very good planning, in my opinion.

i. where do you want to park in Jurong ? There's basically no free parking around Jurong area.
ii. Boon Lay mrt (Jurong area) to Tanjong Pagar is quite a distance away, about 45mins ride.

It would be better (economical and time aspect) to drive in from Woodlands all the way to Tanjong Pagar and park there.

I'm planning to stay around Nusajaya so I will be taking 2nd link. I understand that there's no free parking in SG, but was hoping that I can get cheaper (cheaper than in Tanjong Pagar/Anson Rd area) season parking around Jurong/Jurong West area and travel by MRT from there.

Any idea on how much is the season parking around Tanjong Pagar/Anson Rd?
*
I don't think you could get a HDB season parking for foreign vehicle. You could however, pay per hourly using coupons @ S$1/hour, 'hot' area S$2/hour. Another solution is go for commercial season parking, those inside office tower or shopping complex, which is not cheap. Maybe S$300 upwards per month ?

QUOTE(amad108 @ Jun 15 2013, 11:46 PM)
i felt that when i start working here too.. even in mosque where singapore malays dont like foreigner wherever they come from, including malaysia..
for my case,
i already rent a room for $400 (this rent price covered by my company, so every month i need to give receipt to my project manager), starting 3 may 2013. before i start i already highlight to them (the agent) i can only stay in house if all is men n its muslims house. when i move in the house only occupied me n the house owner (which is muslim). so when i ask the owner where is another 2 tenant (coz its master bedroom), he said "they already went their hometown". but from the room i can see its not locked and the room kinda empty.. so i just believe the owner said..

then after 1 month i move-in, suddenly the owner said to me there will be a single mother n her daughter will stay in the room.. i kinda shock at first, but i hid from the owner. so i just wait for them to move-in.. they quite an ok mother n daughter, but recently when my mother know about this thing, its unacceptable because as a muslims we cannot stay in one house without blood relative if there's a woman..

so i highlight to my project manager about this problem.. he said "this is ur personal problem", then i said "if u can't help me regarding this matter, i will extend this matter to ur superior"
so from above case, i would like to stay in JB back. living in singapore its too strict. even if its safer, but more hassle. when staying inside, even in saturday n sunday i also need to work.. this thing my project manager never highlight this matter, he only mention the benefit if stay inside, can save time bla bla.. etc.. but actually its a lot tiring when stay inside..
when last time i stay in JB, around 1-2pm i already can go back JB.. n there is no saturday n sunday works..

my question is:
1. because i already sign the agreement to stay in the house, can it be replace by other tenant? but its from the same company that i worked
2. what can i do to further this matter to my PM superior? formal letter signed by me n my mother perhaps ?
*
i don't quite understand this part. You meant your working duration depends on where you stay ? If you stay JB you clock lesser hour than you would if your stay in Singapore ? First time I heard of such thing.

on the room rental thing, it is really your personal problem. Even if you move out and rent room at other place, there is nothing you can do to prevent the owner renting out other room to a lady few months down the road. If you have signed a 1 year contract and 6 months down the road a new lady tenant moves in. Then what ?

May I know you're M'sian Malay or others countries muslim? You're very lucky to get a chance to work in sg. Many ppl told me sporean are racist. I don't really feel that. Until now I stated to work at here I can strongly feel that. Everyday I listened those top management ppls or staffs scold and criticize on M'sian! I can listen their mouth keep saying M'sian... M'sian.... M'sian from morning till afternoon... It is very terrible cultural... Don't forget they also get in a few M'sian to work with them in the office!!!... Are u in construction industry? I know ur feeling... If they tell u everything, of course, u will reject their offer. They will only hire foreigner to fill their empty post if they really can't found local ppl to work with them!... Usually, it's a terrible job... If we accept the offer, it means that we are ready to accept the challenge. If we really cannot do it. It means that we have to go... That's why so many young ppl with all white hair in my company...
*
It's not about Singaporeans, it's about your company. Poor cultural and management standards.

yup.. because i'm doing a feedback.. each time there's a complaint, we need to attend the site within 1 hour period.. but only for those who stay in singapore..

actually my company offer this condition, they offered only for 6 person to stay in singapore to do this job.. they keep repeating how benefit it is to stay inside, save a lot of time, they also give motorcycle ot use it everyday, less work, less those n that etc bla bla bla.. but when i stay inside, those thing last only for a week, after that the work load increase, i only reach home around 10pm-1am everyday..

all work load i still can manage, but when its come to my religion matter i cant tolerate.. IT IS my personal problem, but my 1st priority still my religion.. i would do anything just to do in Islamic way..
i dont know about singapore culture until i stay inside, and after a lot of thinking i decided that i cant stay inside here.. i will sacrifice my religion for sure (means i do sins everyday without realize it, i know it when my mum strongly disagree about it), it maybe small matter to other muslims, but not for me..
*
based on your info, i agreed it's totally beneficial for you to stay in JB. I know i would immediately move to jb if i was in your shoes.

you can convert your malaysian license to sg ones without cancelling, but once your license expired, you wouldn't be able to renew it again...

reason being is that when you do your conversion, sg will ask you to go jpj to get a letter stating that you have a clean driving license record...

jpj will issue you a letter and will tell you at that point of time that you will not be able to renew your license anymore...

that was the procedure i went through, 2 years ago...

by book, foreign worker are not suppose to use their foreign license after 1 year. by left, They did not enforce it as long as you are not driving or riding a Singapore vehicle.

*
no such rule. Malaysian on work pass can use their licence as long as they want to ride/drive Malaysia registered vehicle into Sg, as long as they do not not stay in Sg
