I missed the previous dark knight release.... Is this a good chance for me to jump right into this expensive hobby by directly getting the " set with Alfred Pennyworth & Bruce Wayne" rm1800!! Actually it sounds like quite a bargain for those who never have any batman figure before, right?? With rm800 extra, you basically get extra 2 figures that you can't buy separately. Am I trying to poison myself and come out with only what I want to believe?

Anyway I got a few questions & need advice, since I nvr bought any hot toys figure before.. Most expensive toys I ever bought is the Metal Built Gundam for rm600+

1. It says Q2-Q3 2014 release. Meaning June to August 2014? How often hot toys actually release the figure within their estimated date?
2. Is it a very common things for you guys to PO a figure and have to wait more than 6 months to 1 year for it? Is impossible to find a figure without PO?
3. If I bought one and I realize the hobby is too expensive for me and decided to quit, Will I be able to easily sell off my figure without any loses? Is demand for released figure really high?
4. How do you convince your gf/ wife/ mum to let you buy some kind of expensive "doll" without being forced for a divorce/breakup/ crazy arguement? (my biggest obstacle now for me to pull trigger now ;p)

Ok. I think I have decided. I want to get my first hot toys the Dark Knight + Bruce Wayne + Alfred Pennyworth set. But where should I preorder it from.. Need advice on how reliable the sellers are...and other things I should watchout for. Any case like you pay for the Preorder but yet fail to get your items when it being released? and they refund the money to you?

So far I think I have 2 choices:
1. XL toys: Preorder I believe I have to pay full amount? Actually im pretty poor this month cause CNY is near and I have a trip before that. Almost 100% certain will get nag by my gf.
2. Toywiz/Toygarden: from website preorder deposit only rm 150. But I wonder will they treat it not that seriously.. Maybe not enough stock when the item has released and decided to just refund my deposit? That definitely will screw me kao kao.

Mind sharing some experience? seriously im more nervous than excited now. tongue.gif

not like we gonna buy it for you as a birthday gift

That's very harsh of you. You can choose to ignore me if I - a poor fellow who cannot easily afford the hobby Yet .. annoyed you.

xl for walk in pre order deposit only 30% of the full amount and xl normaly can get stock more faster than others toys shop.

Thanks a lot! Now that is very helpful. I thought my only option is buy through their online shop with full payment. And the tips of "XL normally get the stock faster" is what I like to know. notworthy.gif Thanks again

Go to their shop to PO. Pay a deposit and then pay up the rest when stocks arrive for pickup.

Will pay XL mid valley a visit tomorrow to find out more.

I usually just do preorders from a trusted seller in FB toy groups. Or yeah, XL Shop is definitely awesome.
This guy might not have read or understood what you're trying to say.
The hobby is up to anyone to join. Heck, even I'm having difficulties buying everything I want.
That's exactly why there are preorder deposits and flex payments.
The part where you save up and work towards getting a piece that you want is what makes it all the more worth it.

If you're rich as all hell and can afford anything you want, it's not all that rewarding imo.
*
I was expecting XL to be reputable and trustworthy.. glad to hear someone confirm that.
Everyone can afford this hobby, is just how much money we willing to spend on our hobby. I for one, have not own a HIGH-end toy like this before, so is very hard for me to 100% justify that this is totally worth it before I own it. That is why I have to make careful consideration with the purchase. Afterall..how many things in this world we need to Pre-order and wait.. I can only think of buying a house laugh.gif

Totally agree with the part where we need to save up to works towards getting the piece we really want. I may not need a complete collection. I may just need 1 or 2... and I'll be happy

For batman armory it is only hard to decide for those alrdy own the batman 1/6 figure itself.

If u still didnt own it then i think it wont be any problem for u to decide. For me I buy it since i still didnt have the batman figure, if not really like it then maybe later will sell it off.

I finally just go ahead and preorder the full set dark knight armory... since I didnt own any figure, guess it should be an easy decision for me... XL told me September release... feel like years away~!~ tongue.gif

Is this worth buying??? 20" is a really huge figure!! Anyone has experience with Threezero figures? at US$430.00, I find it cheap for figure of this size and such details.. But will it means it will feels very Hollow and low in quality... like plastic gundam model?

Let's just say ThreeZero makes the best mech figures out there. If you want robots, armors, and all those good stuff, ThreeZero is the company to do it.
They make some pretty solid figure actually.
Try checking out all their previous mech release reviews.

Thanks for the feedback. But I don't hear much about this company and don't know what other famous figures they have released before... At first I thought they are the one making the Portal 2 figures, but that turns out to be (3A) , not Threezero. doh.gif

Interesting.. if I can assume ThreeA and Threezero produce similar quality figure, such as the Realsteel figures, then I think it will be really impressive.

Not sure is it because of its massive size, the whole thing seems like a bit flimsy.. like goyang goyang...

... the word I use for the titanfall toy is -- flimsy, and frankly it looks like drawn on detail to me, which I assume the price is not going to be cheap. Don't get me wrong -- I do luv titanfall ... Angelina Jolie in Maleficent look fat and short ... They should really look at the cartoon Disney drawing and figure out why Angelina Jolie was chosen to play the character ...  smile.gif ...

Rm 1.3k for a 20" titanfall figure... It sounds cheap if you look at the size. But I think it will feels "hollow"..
Yeah the maleficent looks fat.. there is not "shape" to her body. They really should do her Laughing headsculpt.. that will be awesome!

Guys. Can share some idea of how you guys display your 1/6 figures collection? The kind of cabinet. with lighting? with glass? etc etc.

I may only have 1 hot toys figure now. But im sure everyone knows .. once you start.. is impossible to stop.. at least I am going to get a few more in years to come. Right now I am moving to a new place and thinking to design a section for my figure display (built in). Hope you guys can share some idea, especially the best way to light up your figures. LED stripes? LED Spot? Back light?

Thanks for the suggestion. I won't be using detolf since I will want to have a built in cabinet at the living area. Currently my collection is a bit difficult to plan my display cabinet. I have only 1 Hot toys figure now (excluding the Batman armory + bruce + alfred I have PO), have a few gundam kits which I slowly get away from the hobby because of no available time... I have little bit of old revoltech figures as well.. But I do not like to display everything out and make it looks messy. What I tend to do now is to display 1 -2 gundams, 1 -2 revoltech, permanently displayed HT figure. Then every few months I switch my gundam figures with those I stored in the boxes.

If I custom my cabinet, what is the best height clearance for each shelves? 40 cm will it be too limited? I dont think I'll be doing adjustable shelves since I will like to have LED light on each Tier...I am not a fan of having one light on top of the cabinet and try to light up all the few glass shelves below. And also I think i prefer to give "space" to each figures than bunching them up together.

I also have to consider not only my collection but my gf's collection as well... she collects travel souvenirs, Key chainssss, magnetsss, hardrock glasses, Alcohol, Mcd Hello kitty, Shell's ferrari cars, Shells lego cars.... rclxub.gif haha Think those will look bunching together. But I have already reserved an eye level shelves for my collection already icon_rolleyes.gif

yeah.. agree with the panel line being too thick.. make the armor look a cartoonish/sketchup style/ borderland style, especially with tony stark realistic face. Is it me or the gold seems to be a bit too gold? Hope is the picture white balance.

Anyone interested to trade the batman armory set with me?

I have PO Batman armory set with alfred + bruce. But I am a bit short of cash now, so thinking to save some money by just having the Armory with batman figure.

Is there anyone who has ordered Batman armory without alfred + bruce. but now hoping to get together with Alfred + bruce now, maybe we can switch...
