If you wish to consult a psychiatrist, try looking for one who is trained in hypnosis. Dr Cheah Wing Yin in Sunway Medical Center is one and quite experienced. I don't know if he is still practising there as he had a serious road accident three years back. I think he also has a clinic in Jln SS 2/24, PJ. Otherwise, there are quite a number of supplements and herbs which have antidepressive and anxiolytic properties. 5-HTP SAMe Rhodiola Saffron (Crocus sativa) Sceletium tortosium Fish Oil Anxiety : Passion flower (Passiflora incarnata) Blue scullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) Chinese dates (Zizyphus jujuba) Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum) Adaptogens : Siberian ginseng Ashwaganda (Withania somnifera, Indian ginseng) Maca (Peruvian ginseng) Cordyceps Adaptogens (General Antistress Supplements) http://cortisolconnection.com/ch8_9.php Effects of Rhodiola rosea on level of 5-hydroxytryptamine, cell proliferation and differentiation, and number of neuron in cerebral hippocampus of rats with depression induced by chronic mild stress http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/19260327 Rhodiola is quite popular with the members of this forum : http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/20600-rhodiola-dosage/ Note that it doesn't work for everyone - some say they get diarrhea, cramps and others say their anxiety gets worse. Try one at a lower dose for a start. http://www.iherb.com/Nature-s-Answer-Rhodi...eggie-Caps/8287 Plant-based medicines for anxiety disorders, Part 1: a review of preclinical studies. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/23436255 Mood disorders and complementary and alternative medicine: a literature review. http://www.dovepress.com/mood-disorders-an...wed-article-NDT Nature against depression. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/22414105 Herbal medicines, other than St. John's Wort, in the treatment of depression: a systematic review. http://www.altmedrev.com/publications/16/1/40.pdf Crocus sativus L.
