It's a good time for them to learn new heroes, as long as no one rages at them too hard. It's better to have a mic to guide them though, typing would waste too much time teaching someone a new hero.

IMHO an IH isnt the time to be learning a new hero, that's what bot matches are for until you are comfortable, guides on dotafire, playdota and MM. When you are pretty good with a hero, then you can consider playing it in an IH. Plus for IH you should at least know the basics of game mechanics and positioning (last hitting, denying, lane equilibrium, pulling/stacking, rotation, tp response, warding (defensive and aggressive), dewarding, smoke ganks etc).

QUOTE(flabbergasted @ Jun 21 2013, 03:59 PM)
I missed out the games yesterday, but managed to watch first few mins of 1st game, and most of game 2.

I'll comment on game 2 since I saw most of the game.

I think the teams were too uneven (skillwise). Mid lane, TA owned QOP too much, which isn't supposed to happen. Top lane, bat was farming good, but so was mag, which isn't supposed to happen. Bat should be able to farm + dominate the lane by stopping mag from farming.
In the bottom trilane, radiant won the lane too. KOTL + PL is normally a strong lane and should be able to fight vs silencer + naga + orge magi lane (sorry forgot last dire hero).

Draft was ok, just that there was a huge gap in player's skill in the two teams.

Just my 2 cents.

I was the QOP, we also had no wards at the top river, Ogre rotated mid, but none of our supports rotated for mid gank. We still had walking courier at 5 mins etc..I think I was spending more time typing than playing.

sorry man, bane here from 2nd game ytd. wanted to rotate, but pl got harassed badly, so i had to focus deny and keeping pl alive, lol
and laning wise if bat and you swapped lane, outcome would be better imo.
*
Yah totally agree, we would have been better with bat mid and something else top offlane vs mag. Or even if we just swapped it probably would have been better. I played bad too tho, swings and roundabouts heh.

Playing with bots doesn't really teach you much besides hero skills since their items and patterns are way too predictable. The skills you mention should definitely be learned from players better than themselves that guide them. Being in the normal bracket most of my teammates don't even carry tp scrolls. 135 gold gonna delay your dagon kotl for sure when you're stealing all the farm from the carry.
*
That's why I mentioned using bots to learn new heroes..not to learn the game.

At least you get can comfortable with a heroes skill usage, ranges, combos etc. It won't teach you much about the game, but you can use it for basic drills (last hitting, pulling/stacking etc).

And yes, that's why I'm waiting for the rumoured DOTA2 mentor system, which should be implemented by volvo some time soon. The guild system will help too, giving new players more access to experienced players.

Then perhaps we can get more balanced IH games smile.gif Like yesterdays game, in serious IH I play support only, sometimes utility - never mid. Because against a proper mid like SKuller, I'll get owned. I can stomp medium/high level players, but a proper mid player - no they will beat me.

So yah, we have a way to go.

And pls..more people join IXDL SEA, I'd love it to be active smile.gif

When I was playing the regular inhouse in G@r3n@, it was 10 good players with mode set to -ARSPNR (all random, shuffle players, no repick). We played what we were given, and we got screwed if we didn't play it well. It helped us improve, and fast.

Kinda what I was expecting haha. Oh well.
