Currently i am using AMD 960 T with sapphire 7870 xt ~

THe game which i currently playing are crysis 3 and metro last night

I can feel the lagging when i playing the game ~ however i just set the graphic in HIGH setting

So should i overclock my graphic card ??

The answer is very simple ~ i am just a student so i don't have sufficient money to buy a high end graphic card

all setting in the game u set high? ur resolution 1920 x 1080?

i just bought 7870xt, and i'm using phenomII 555 (unlock to 4 core and oc at 3.6ghz). now i'm worried if my pc will lag too when playing games..

yes sir ~ most of the game i set high setting because i thought this graphic card can support

but the way my resolution is just 1600 x 900 [ 20 inch monitor only ] very soon will buy a 24 inch

why not you test sir and tell me the result ~

i can feel the power of of lagging when i playing metro last night

i tried crysis 3 in high setting 1920x1080 reso with 7870xt..doesnt feel lag at all or it just myself?

anyway i also disable the AA for better framerate ~ but i ON AF

Crysis 3 is not just a GPU-demanding game. It's quite CPU demanding as well.
Try overclocking your CPU first. You can monitor the in game CPU usage as well, and if the CPU usage hits 100% constantly, your CPU might be the bottleneck.

may i know ur pc full spec?

Is that mean crysis 3 performance is base on CPU not GPU

my card is on the way. just bought it from hikari85 yesterday, maybe tomoro i will receive it. later can test. i tot 7870xt consider quite good oredi, since it is using tahiti core (iinm la). hmm

best bang for your buck but still for the game that require graphic hunger, this card will suffer abit la

Do read and understand his statement before asking the same question again. Crysis 3 is both cpu and gpu demanding.
Try follow the steps he provided by monitoring your cpu usage during gaming to see if it reach 100% or close to that.
It might be a bottleneck issue that cause your gpu not operate at full potential.

Oh, BTW did you install the latest AMD graphics driver?

dude i think your cpu is bottlenecking your GPU bro
the 7870XT is almost comparable to 7950
and can be overclocked to 7950 level performance no sweat

I have tested the HD 7870 XT on Crysis 3. I can play at Very High settings and FXAA. Using Fraps to measure the frame rates, I only get around 33 FPS only. Gameplay is still considered marginally smooth for me, no lagging.

And yes, Crysis 3 is really dependent on your CPU too. See the graph below. Generally, Core i3 and below is bottlenecking a GTX 680 already. More read here.

Me also have 7870xt (bought it last week) and it looks good. Playing Star Craft 2, Metro 2033, Fallout New Vegas, Warhammer 40k all in high setting no problem.

Will try Skyrim, Metro LL and Company of Heroes 2 in the coming weeks

960T is an unlockable processor and it's perform quite very well. The cpu might perform slower than any other i5 or FXs but it's still a good processor. Why dump it off for an improvement of few frames?

First, try to OC your processor. Phenoms are generally known to be good overclockers. You should be able to minimize some of the bottleneck by doing so.

Also, bear in mind that there is certain limit on how much FPS you can get from the HD 7870 XT. FYI, the HD 7870 LE inside the graph is the same as 7870 XT.

hmmm overclock the card to 1200mhz
that will give u hd7950 level performance
but crysis 3 is a gpu and cpu killer
even my i7 3770k with gtx680 suffers a bit

Your processor and your graphic card is good enough for gaming compare with MINE

it also takes quite a hit with all eye candy turned on at 1920x1200
btw ill test crysis 3 with my htpc that have 7870xt gpu

However the lagging is become lesser but i still can feel the lagging ~

I am user of 7870XT + FX 6300 @ 4.0 GHZ, but the graphic card did not overclock. Same with me when I play Far Cry 3 max settings, it lag a bit. I know that feeling when the game lags haha. Dont know why it lags, I thought its enuff already..

Anyone have the link for latest AMD catalyst + driver for 7870XT?

Metro LL is not a very optimised game for AMD cards atm

wait till their next drivers roll out, that should fix the lagging problems

people with HD7970 still complaining of massive lag on Metro LL btw

After reading u using feel to detect lag, try using FRAPS to measure your frames per second, more accurate

Hi there yes I just tried i3-2120 + 7870xt = not bad but lag a bit
And i5-3570k + 7870xt same thing
And btw the starting scene where it rains heavily also lags a bit :/ so yea
But both tested at 1920x1200 not 1600x900

Awesome ~~ it seem this game really a high end pc to run smoothing

Anyway ~ I found out a stupid way to reduce the lagging ~

I just close all my application and just playing my game ~ it seem more smoothing ~~
