sad.gif that is bad news..

Not sure if someone has mentioned this, but the value of TP will likely drop from Aug 1 onwards as well.

www.rcubed.com.my has already put up a statement asking people to redeem for ONEcard vouchers in order to "maintain your value" and "preserve your points"

this is very seriously wrong  mad.gif  vmad.gif
From 0.053% to 0.042% .... drop of 0.01%

Time to cash out all the TPs smile.gif ...
*
if you consider 12000 = RM50, it is a 20% increase in TP cost.

Yup, current conversion rate is 200 point = RM1
*
inaccurate. if it is 1U then it was 210TP to RM1.

But still it reflect a 25% increase in cost

Confirmed. CS drop the hint. RM100 Aeon voucher will take 25k TP instead of 20k TP tomorrow onwards

is there any reason why my total spending is exactly RM1000.00 (note it's exactly 1k, not rounded up) and yet my rebate for last month was RM49.98
*
likely rounding as it is calculated per transaction and not monthly total.

Guys, please give suggestion..

I'm planning to swipe RM15K in my MBB Credit Card AMEX.. to buy kitchen cabinet.. and plan to settle them in EPP for 6 months.. int is charged @ 4.5 PA

Or should i just use my own cash..

which is better?
*
it is only uusally worth it if the EPP is 0% interest. Else if you already have the cash, can you invest it to get higher than 4.5% p.a returns over that 6 months?

also note... your tenure is only 6 months. If your EPP is a 4.5% UPFRONT charge, then it is not p.a

QUOTE(tishaban @ Aug 19 2013, 12:59 PM)
Anyone applied and received the Maybank World Mastercard or Visa Infinite yet? The World Mastercard looks interesting, particularly the RM1 = 1 enrich mile promos and the 50k sign up bonus (equivalent to 10k enrich miles). I have some large expenditures coming up and might want to build up my enrich miles again biggrin.gif

The application part is a bit mysterious though, fill up a form and we'll get back to you? wink.gif
*
if you are looking @ enrich miles, the visa infinite @ RM0.90 per Enrich Mile is the best choice for overseas spend vs RM1 for the World Mastercard. For local spend, it is RM2.25 for the VI vs RM2 for the WM. So depending on your spending pattern. However in a long term situation the VI might be better as you still get Treatpoints every RM spent instead of earning treatmiles in blocks of RM2 spent locally with the WM.

It's RM120k spending requirement for waiver that turns me off the WM card.

Note the points requirement had not been affected by the Aug 1 devaluation.

Here's a question if you know, will the existing TP I have be converted at 4500 per 1k miles or only new TP from VI get that conversion rates?
*
Only TP from the VI. All TP earned on other cards default to the 7000TP for 1k Enrich rate.

For local transactions, even before the increase, MBB Visa and MAsterCard are not worth it for local transactions  tongue.gif MBB 2 AMEX is the best for local transactions as far as unlimited reward points are concerned.
Agree with you on MBB VI, as far as overseas transactions are concerned  smile.gif

Noted that MBB VI overseas conversion rate is now higher than previous months but it is still better than my UOB VI.

Hi Gen-X,

Do you have the Alliance Bank VI? Hoping to compare the exchange rates between MBB and ABMB after the latest forex rate increases

This is actually my topic of interest.
What is the best card ebside M2cards for local usage, in term of point, cash back and interest rate.

OCBC Titanium?

I still like Alliance Bank Plat for its up to 2% cashback + timeless bonus points . 12 swipes a year for annual waiver

This question is OOT in this topic. Should move it to http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2243367/

Based on the image, I used my Amex on Saturday but posting date is on Monday. So does it means that I couldn't get my 5% weekend rebate?

And for the conversion charge, The rate is based on post date or trans date?  Am I calculating correctly? Because the charge difference between amex and visa just 0.5%!!! OMG

Can anyone verify this for me?

The rate from VISA is obtained through this link
http://corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_serv....jsp?src=ex_rez
*
Transaction date is 17-Aug, a saturday. so you are eligible for rebate. Please read post #1 and all other posts. This has been repeated again and again.

without info from MBB, forex rates are best guess. However it is known that Visa rates has gone up since August. Previous

analysis done last year showed the rate was closest to posting date for visa. but already 1 year old, and knowing the rate went up in August, most likely no longer valid.

that line applies to cases where the physical transaction happen on a weekend but the merchant only processes on a weekday - making the transaction date a weekday.

This often happens particularly on e-commerce sites, think Amazon and agoda are the ones that come up often

May I know for hotel transaction, they will swipe on the day i check in or check out? Im going to overseas this weekend and will check out on Monday so thinking should I  use Amex or Visa? I plan to walk in without booking/reservation.
*
They swipe when u check in, but only process when you check out, so transaction date will be Monday. However, you can go down on saturday/sunday and ask to settle the bill first ala prepay to get the transaction date to the weekend.

OOT but it is very expensive to walk in without a booking (RACK rates). I would suggest if you intend only to pay at check out, at least get one of those flexible bookings where you do not need to pay upfront. Or get prepaid booking on Saturday morning if you have not gone overseas by then.

edit: i have been in a hotel before where the transaction date reflects the day AFTER check out (must be some back office bulk billing thing) so go on saturday evening if your really want the 5%.

oh, that 4 digit on top of AMEX logo, i just thought it is no use. I only cover the 3 digit number at the back
the 4 digit number on top of AMEX logo is AMEX CVV number? then what about the 3 digit number at the back of card?
**update:
check with my friend's amex card, we have the same number for the 4 digit on top of AMEX logo. I thought this kind of number is different?
*
it is printed on the card and not a sticker... should not surprise you in the current lowest cost manufacturing environment. IMO might be safer to have embossed it but I am guessing printed on the card is the standard for Amex everywhere
