ronnie, i visited Maybank Card Centre today at The Garden
the maybank staff there ask me to get either Visa or MasterCard
what is the difference and which one should i get?
and is there any charges if i decide to change it later on in the future?
i ask the same question to the staff but what they said is "both is acceptable in Malaysia"

Take the visa if you plan to apply OCBC titanium MasterCard.
Take the MasterCard if you plan to apply HLB WISE visa card.
*
i see
is that means Visa and Mastercard dont have significant difference?
its just the matters of different company and merchant acceptance?

QUOTE(zr125 @ Jul 8 2013, 10:26 PM)
let say we already have mastercard, can we request maybank to change it to visa? is it possible?
*
yes u can switch anytime but Maybank will charge RM50 service fee for each time u change it.

is it just a confusion, misunderstanding or actual case?

Better use OCBC Ti for 1% then.

Well, Paper statement is my reminder to login and schedule payment. Anyway, I login pretty often.
Yes only within MBB, click pay now button next to statement balance. Not sure about MBB 3rd party though. Any one?
I did not receive SMS notification for CC scheduled payment, so don't know what time it take effect. But I did receive SMS notification for my TNB scheduled payment at 5pm on Sunday. Haha... I scheduled TNB payment on week end to earn 5% CB and free myself for weekend outing.
*
bro, can u advise how do u scheduled TNB payment on weekend?
i thought the system is recurring based on the date?

Gee....! You don't spend rm500 on petrol, phone/Internet bill and grocery in a month ?  blink.gif How I wish I can like you and I would rather ditch my WISE card for it  tongue.gif

cybpsych said is true.
some people spend more than rm500 but their expenses are not equally distributed.
as for me, my petrol expenses is RM300 per month but that is only 6 transaction.
the rest of it is my bills which barely reach rm50 per transaction
this is the worse scenario for both of us.

guys, i got confusion.

1) in my transaction for AMEX, i have Service Tax Debit RM50 and Service Tax Credit RM50. does it mean my GST is waived?

2) if i purchase item with 0% installment during weekend, how does the treatpoint and cashback works? we dont get points at all?

It depends on the type of installment:

1) Merchant full charge, bank pay merchant full amount. Installment is between you and bank.
Bank will give you full TP first (5x for Amex).
Installment will charge every month at fixed date.
Cash back depends if it is valid for weekend-cash rebate. The first installment may not be the date you swipe the card last weekend. It could be your next statement date.
Even if it is valid, only the first installment is rebated. Not the full-installment amount. Next month installment, depends on the date they charge again.

2) Merchant charge installment every month, bank pay installment amount, you also pay installment amount.
This is three party.
But the rest is same as above bolded.
If you are looking to get the cash rebate, a more proper way is:
(i) Full charge into Amex (not installment) on Sat (better than Sun). You will get 5x TP + weekend rebate.
(ii) Then, do a 0% balance transfer to another CC for installment.

i see
thanks for the tips smile.gif

guys, need clarification on few issues here.
this is my first time using credit card.

my statement date is 6th September
my due date is 26th September
my statement balance is RM88.65
my outstanding balance is RM1500.61

i already paid statement amount on 12th Sept but until now it seems like Maybank2u not updated.

the only changes is the minimum amount from RM3 to RM0.
no changes in statement balance, its still RM88.65
changes in outstanding balance, now is RM1411.96

is that means i still need to clear all the outstanding balance to avoid interest charges?

maybe sifu ronnie can help icon_question.gif

I am not sifu but i can help tongue.gif

You are doing it right. As you have paid your statement balance before due date, there will be no interest charge.

The statement balance will only change after the next statement cycle.

I believe the outstanding balance RM1411.96 is for your transactions after the statement date of 6th September and will be billed in the next statement.

thanks bro for the quick reply rclxm9.gif
then i dont have to worried that much notworthy.gif
btw, if got interest charged, the description will appear in the statement right?

its normal for most people out there dont know about scam, especially for first timer.
thats why the scam exist at the first place, due to lack of awareness
but it doesn't mean that people shouldn't use credit cards.

well yeah i agree that not many people know about scams .... I'm ok if people don't know karmaloop ... but seeing your statement getting charged for something you didn't do? That's kinda common sense yea? It's like .. someone comes and take out RM100 from your wallet, should you be worried about it? Lol ... but yea no offence bro .. just be more careful ... if you need to pay for something you didn't buy .. you should be worried indeed
*
me also got no offence icon_rolleyes.gif
maybe he think that it is one of the bank charges
thats why he ask nod.gif
