Do it after 2pm on Saturday and you should be able to get the weekend 5% cash back. But can we get it ? (referring to Gen-X's post below)


It shouldn't be a problem to get the 5% cash back right ? Did anyone report here they didn't get it ? May be i missed it... Or may be he used it on Saturday morning... hence no weekend 5% cash back for him.


Agoda had had this issue rectified a few months ago.

Actually application for this M2U Savers is open to all maybank2u users, not just those having a Maybank CASA. If you do not not already have an ATM card, you can apply for it at any Maybank branch nearest to you. Last time when they just introduced this account, it was stated there that you will be charged RM8 annual fee for the ATM card (only apply to those whom do not have an ATM card and you can't choose the no annual fee option with limited ATM cash withdrawals). I am not sure if this has changed.

This doesn't apply to ATM/debit card solely for M2U Savers access. It was stated in their website when this account was just introduced.

Definitely not true. Very typical though and this doesn't only apply to Maybank staff.

Don't worry. I'm very confident with my previous answer as I've been holding this card for more than 2 years. As a matter of fact, I was one of the first to get this card here... only days after this card was launched

Guys, things have changed with Agoda now. From now on, always choose MYR as your checkout currency as Agoda's rate is now better than ever! And you will save even more if you have MBB2 AMEX. And because your card will be billed in MYR, you do not have to worry about AMEX's high foreign exchange rate! I have just booked a room through the Maybank Agoda promotion landing page, paid with my MBB2 AMEX, got 7% off + about 2.5% (5x TP) + redeemed 12,500 Agoda rewards points (equivalent to USD25). Save myself quite some money.

Eh, quite a surprise that AMEX Gold entitles for 7% off too. A good news nonetheless.


This wasn't the case just not so long ago. Last time you'll be shown a very competitive exchange rate (assuming you choose to see the rate in MYR all the way to the final checkout page) which led you to believe that to choose to be billed in MYR is better. But it was bogus and you'll realize after the transaction has gone through that Agoda's exchange rate is higher and it was better to choose USD and let your bank do the conversion. (Can refer to my posts and also Cempedak's in the previous thread)

Anyway, when doing the booking in MYR, Agoda's exchange rate for the x% bank discount + Agoda Rewards Points redemption is tiny bit higher than remaining balance you have to pay. Refer below.

- x% bank discount, Agoda's exchange rate is RM3.1590
- Agoda Rewards Points, USD25 = RM78.97, the rate is RM3.1588
- Final Total Due, Agoda's exchange rate is RM3.0870

Considering you can get 5xTP when booking with your MBB2 AMEX, the exchange rate difference is therefore immaterial. Besides, RM3.0870=USD1 is about the same as the cash rate you can get from money changer now. So i'd say Agoda's rate is quite good.

Yes. USD fluctuates quite a lot these days. Anyway, i think MBB2 AMEX is still better despite higher exchange rate is used for the bank discount and also rewards points redemption.

Oh, do you still get 5xTP for your VI if you choose to be billed in MYR on Agoda ?

Is it lower or about the same as regular MBB VISA/MC ? Because this Agoda's MYR rate is very close to what we get from MBB VISA/MC or the street money changers. But as you said, if USD suddenly drops, then you probably can save a bit more with your VI. Anyhow, i'd still recommend MBB2 AMEX though


I only received the email like about 5 minutes after i booked my room through Agoda last night but luckily Agoda is still cheaper for the room i just booked last night


The HotelClub has some sort of collaboration with VISA but the room rate is not always the cheapest out there. I always check with a few online hotel reservation websites before i book one and so far Agoda is consistently cheaper than other online hotel reservation portals especially after factoring in the 5%-7% bank discount.

AMEX already has this SafeKey thingy...

More than 2 years ago. However, many online merchants still do not support this AMEX SafeKey®. Even VISA VbV and MasterCard SecureCode are hardly perfect as certain websites that do not support this can process your credit card without requiring you to key-in any one-time password. One good example is Agoda.

Yes. You need to be an Agoda registered user.

You earn rewards points and you do not have to type in some generic information like your name, address etc when making a booking.
