Thanks for the tips!

What sorta stickers do you use? And can I set my SMS alert limit at the branch the moment I pick it up?
*
i just use normal tape. for AMEX, it is the 4 digits at the front side.

give it a try. you can set the limit by calling CS too.

Nowadays they just need less than 5 secs to snap photo of the front and back of the CC using smart phones. Previously need longer time to write down the numbers.

I just received my card last week.
a question here: why is it 4 digits at the front side?
I thought CVV is usually at the back of there card, behind your signature there?
What's difference for Amex? I saw at back got numbers too. icon_question.gif
*
For AMEX, it is the 4-digits.

hmm
i hope nothing happened today
i hope that waiter doesnt try to pull any stunt

now to sum up security measure that i need to do/already done

1. cover the 4 digits number with tape
2. only pay/present your card at counter
3. set sms limit to rm1 (checked)
4. make sure maybank2u website address is correct before log in
5. do not respond to any email/call asking details of cc

it is printed on the card and not a sticker... should not surprise you in the current lowest cost manufacturing environment. IMO might be safer to have embossed it but I am guessing printed on the card is the standard for Amex everywhere
*
Hi, am curious. Why is it safer to have it embossed?

i would like to attempt to apply for maybank2card gold as my application with ocbc was unsuccessful.
i read through and saw that the 5x & 2x points is obtainable when swiping the amex, not the amstercard. then the MC does not eligable for TP?
*
Visa/MC gives you 1 TP

owh..then amex will be good..but i heard nw days amex is widely accepted including petrol pump and online transactions?
the clause of "Enjoy a low Finance Charge of 8.88% p.a. on your outstanding retail balance, and save up to RM2300 a year¹. All you have to do is promptly settle your minimum payment of 5% or a minimum of RM25.", if i settle the min payment (or more), i'm entitled for the 8.88%?
*
Yes, nowadays AMEX are accepted by most petrol stations.

No idea about the % thing as I always pay the full amount to avoid penalty.

QUOTE(suadrif @ Sep 17 2013, 11:38 AM)
guys, need clarification on few issues here.
this is my first time using credit card.

my statement date is 6th September
my due date is 26th September
my statement balance is RM88.65
my outstanding balance is RM1500.61

i already paid statement amount on 12th Sept but until now it seems like Maybank2u not updated.

the only changes is the minimum amount from RM3 to RM0.
no changes in statement balance, its still RM88.65
changes in outstanding balance, now is RM1411.96

is that means i still need to clear all the outstanding balance to avoid interest charges?

maybe sifu ronnie can help icon_question.gif
*
I am not sifu but i can help tongue.gif

You are doing it right. As you have paid your statement balance before due date, there will be no interest charge.

The statement balance will only change after the next statement cycle.

I believe the outstanding balance RM1411.96 is for your transactions after the statement date of 6th September and will be billed in the next statement.

its normal for most people out there dont know about scam, especially for first timer.
thats why the scam exist at the first place, due to lack of awareness
but it doesn't mean that people shouldn't use credit cards.

It is good that he realized it now smile.gif

It doesn't matter whether that merchant is known to you or not. As long as it is an unauthorized transaction, report it to the bank.

I dont play golf, i seldom fly oversea, only local flights.

How much is the default credit limit for platinum? Anyone knows?

My Gold card only has 8k combined limit.

If they would increase the limit, then I would try to upgrade.
*
Not sure about that. Just submit a request for CL increase.

just an update, previously i stated that my supplementary card was charged only RM25 for GST.
well 2 days ago Maybank charged another RM25 to the other card, so its correct as mentioned by others earlier than both Principle and Supplementary have to pay RM50 for GST annually
*
if i recall correctly, it has always been that way. Supp has to pay RM25 + RM25

I need to go to KLCC soon to increase my credit limit. Company has changed its name and soon will reflect on payslip. Before it happens, I better request to change my credit limit. I just want to avoid any issue later. Since my September salary was already released on Friday and expected to change payslip in October, I think it is high time. laugh.gif

My credit limit is based on the salary I got in 2011 which by now it is nearly 100% increment. sweat.gif

3 months payslip should suffice I supposed? Anything else? I can always print EPF statement as well. smile.gif
*
Yup, latest 3 months salary slip or latest BE form with original tax receipt or latest EPF statement
