Last Saturday, I went to lowyat plaza to purchase an external HDD RM250, viewnet said they accept AMEX without charge but their machine rosak, can't use on that day.

So I went to All-IT to purchase, but they said AMEX charge 3% (compare with visa/master 2%), so they want to add this 1% to my price. So my HDD become RM253.

How the calculation with additional 3% on RM250 become RM253?
it should be RM257.50

if only charged you RM253, it is 1.2% only

The sales person told me will add 1%. 1% of RM250 should be RM2.50, but they add RM3 which is 1.2%. shakehead.gif

I guess this does not work anymore, last time I once tried this method, however the transaction date is reflected on the next following Monday instead.

I just renew in Mid June, call in Saturday. But my case is abit different because when I called, the insurance is expired, so the customer service staff charge on that day (sat), but renew on Monday. And I still get 5% cash back. cool2.gif

Last Saturday went to Brotzeit (German Bier Bar In Mid Valley), was told that they not accept amex. But Maybank website/pdf mentioned that use Amex in this Brotzeit got 20% discount for ala carte. Confuse....

If this was a one-off event I can understand. But it looks as though they are abusing this, turning away customers from using Amex on the excuse that their "system is down". Furthermore, I find it suspicious that only a single card is offline when all other cards from the same merchant bank works.

At the very least with All-IT, I've never been turned away even once from using Amex.

Extremely unfair to consumers

I visit lowyat plaza in June (or May rolleyes.gif ), viewnet said AMEX down, so no choice I went to All IT which charge me extra 1.2% shakehead.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif
