Last Saturday went to Brotzeit (German Bier Bar In Mid Valley), was told that they not accept amex. But Maybank website/pdf mentioned that use Amex in this Brotzeit got 20% discount for ala carte. Confuse....

the exact same outlet? send an email to Maybank AMEX CS to check on this.

i use my MBB AMEX via paypal last week and got 40000 points !

then go to the garden mall maybank card centre to redeem Rm200 Jusco voucher for shopping !

If this was a one-off event I can understand. But it looks as though they are abusing this, turning away customers from using Amex on the excuse that their "system is down". Furthermore, I find it suspicious that only a single card is offline when all other cards from the same merchant bank works.

At the very least with All-IT, I've never been turned away even once from using Amex.

I visit lowyat plaza in June (or May ), viewnet said AMEX down, so no choice I went to All IT which charge me extra 1.2%

I tried again on Sunday 28th July and the AMEX option is gone again. Really boils my blood. I missed the window period for July. What is wrong with M2U? Anyone did M2U AMEX transaction on 27th & 28th July?

I paid Unifi via M2U on 27 July, went through immediately.

Last weekend there was a maintenance by Maybank. Not sure if that affected you. Supposed to be up by 8am (both days).

How about Petrol station in Penang, Shell in particular? Especially Shell Jalan Baru, Prai and Shell Greenlane..

So far all no problem with Shell stations that I been to. You may wanna try out these stations and give feedback if they dont accept.

Can use at the petrol kiosk itself or need to go to the counter?

in normal situation, both methods can.

Tried most of Shell station in Penang Island and Juru toll. Amex still accepted at petrol kiosk there.

Went to Viewnet (The Hub) today and was told that I cannot pay with AMEX, the lady said no machine or something... then I saw a poster-like note on the cashier.. something along the lines of "there is no surcharge for credit card.. minimum RM50 for cc usage", with VISA and MASTERCARD logo.. No AMEX!

update: payment for TNB via M2U no longer limits to RM1000 per card per week

I just made total payment of about RM2000 today via M2U, it went through. Not sure what is the new limit though
