Hi,

Am planning to setup a SQ system base on the following :

Front Mids - Focal K2P KRX2 6.5inch
Amp for Front Mid : Soundstream Reference REF4.760 : 125w x 4 Channel (each channel powering up one speaker - 2 mids and 2 tweeter from the Focal K2P KRX2)

Sub : JL Audio - 10W6V2 (one unit)
Amp for Sub : JL Audio 500/1v2 Monoblock 500W Slash Amp

HU : Not sure yet...

Just wondering if anyone has done the similar setup and feedback ?

Thanks - PG_Canon

Ok...that's more feasible to hear knowing that you're looking to go active with Focals... thumbup.gif

I'd go for the Alpine PDX V9-5.

Throw away ur crossovers and go active.

Cheap, good and most efficient!! No need for 1 million amps in your car..

You can use your 80prs if you want or go for a CDA9887 (which is my personal fav)

I'm always about minimalising a setup with tight budget.

P.S If you havent bought your focal comps then I'd recommend you go for scans revelators.

You'll thank me for a million years smile.gif

I thought he mentioned he'll be using only 2 amps right?

Now regardless if he goes active or passive, I think he will be needing atleast 2 amps (unless he's doing a 1 amp setup)

PDX RM2.5k
CDA9887 1.2k
ScanSpeak Revelator 18W/4531-G00 7" Mid-Woofer 4 ohm 1.5k
ScanSpeak Illuminator R3004/6020-00 1" Tweeter Small Ring Radiator RM 1.2k
Woofer (just go and get a single 8 or 10" used) RM500?

IMO Cables and RCAs no need those super good ones as they are 100% marketing gimmick of the business world for you to buy expensive cables so maybe 3 rcas at maybe RM100x3 = 300 + maybe another 100 at the most for speaker wires from PDX to drivers so total = RM400

Grand total of: RM7300.00 (mind you that these are brand new from Madisound and top of the range of Scans) so if you trim a little bit here and there you probably get it all at RM6000.00 or so.

Cheers smile.gif

I was just mentioning about the PDX 5 channel as it is a all in one solution, bro.

Things that I mentioned are the things I've used on my own set up few years back so yeah, I could attest to it that they are indeed value for money.

have to agree on this, that is one hell of an unbalanced setup planning especially when you look at the budget list above.

Well, bro.. all I can say is.. I had a lot of listening pleasure from it.. most of all.. I enjoyed putting them together.

HU
CDA9887 with ipod cable (sadly today that sort of connection is obsolete, why stupid alpine cant make it USB instead, baffles me)

AMP
PDX4150 + PDX 1.600 (sold this away since I gave my sub up)

Drivers
Tweeter Alpine F1 Status SPX-Z18T (aka Scanspeak Ring Radiators D2904/6000)
MidWoofer Scanspeak Revelator 6.5" 18W/4531G00
SubWoofer Seas Lotus SW300 (but later sold it away to prove that I didn't need a subwoofer with reinforcing my sound dampening in my door panels and proper Time Alignment and Tonality settings from my beautiful 6.5" Scans..lol)

Cables
Was initially using some van den hul cables with monster RCA but in protest, I changed all of it for some ordinary recycled shit in protest of the stupid marketing propaganda instilled by people. All those nonsense about warm or bright sounding cables all BS and charging you stupid prices.
Cables are cables are cables unless you tell me its fiber optic or some alien substance lol

All the tuning was done by myself with 50% of the installation too lol.

Ahhh.. now you making me rekindle the moments. Damn you, bro...lol
