thought so, well good luck with that, since it was such a long list  sweat.gif

anyway, never seen anyone put up AMD APU setup, what do you think of this one comparing price-performance value for a light gamer, (DOTA 2 is the heaviest)
-------------------------------------------
RM1.3k - AMD APU setup
AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz - RM499
ASRock FM2A75M-DGS - RM199
Avexir 8GB PC1866 TWINS 2X - RM249
FSP HEXA 500W - RM149
Seagate 500GB SATA 3 - RM159
CASING - RM100+-
RM13xx
*
You'd better getting Intel... at RM1.3K... It's just make it hard to recommend.
APUs are actually worth it if you are going into HTPCs and very small form factor builds, where a discrete GPU is out of the question. tongue.gif

basically, i watched from teksyndicate youtube where they recommend several time of APU system with really nice price around $350(around RM1085?) only with some really nice spec

i tried to build with Malaysia available H/W around same spec and this is the best i could get :/
maybe pricing at Malaysia are much higher compared overseas tongue.gif

you see, I could say i'm the most computer literate among my friends and always been asked for the cheapest computer system for DOTA 2 at considerably high setting

so i thought APU is the solution, unfortunately the price still high :/
than what casing is the best for these setup anyway?
*

He will need a GTX Titan/upcoming 780 for that, or a dual GPU setup to do that.

orrrrrr should i wait another 2 3 months for haswell and gtx7 series to arrive?

did anyone catch up on the sandy bridge price after ivy comes out? did the price went down a lot or just a little?
*
Even if you wait for GTX700 series, the high end ones will be released. You will need to wait for quite a while before it trickles down to lower tier cards. tongue.gif
I don't think the prices of SB dropped much despite the launch of IB. But Haswell boards can be slightly more expensive at launch.

Hello guys,

My mobo and 1 of my graphic card has finally given up on me and I need replacement soon. I'm planning to reuse my hardware excluding the cpu, mobo & gpu. If possible i want to have an upgraded system than i originally have within the budget of 2k-2.5k, lesser the better. Intel cpu and nvidia gpu preferred. Or anything better in your opinion.

Please give me some suggestions. Thanks guys.

EDIT: forgot to mention, my pc spec is as per my sig below.

Haswell? New architecture I suppose? Not following much of current tech haha last I know is Ivy Bridge luls How does 3570k compares to that chip u suggested? And phew... 770? also new tech rite? how does 660ti compares to that?
Hmm, my PSU is doing great till now *touchwood* well, until my gpu blew anyways haha
*
Slightly faster than the 3570K. tongue.gif
But it comes with a new socket. icon_idea.gif

The 770 is basically an overclocked 680 in disguise, but cheaper. tongue.gif

Hey all,

I think it's time for me to jump back into PC gaming, it's been more than 10 years since I last built my own PC and times have changed so much.

I'm not into too fancy stuff but would like to have good performance, small form factor gaming pc. Can any Guru / Sifu here help suggest a rig build? here are my requirements:

Budget: RM 5k
1.) Small Form Factor Case - i live in a very cramp space >_> but i like it to be tidy as well. The size should be comparable to something like a Alienware X51
2.) i5 or i7 CPU - I do play wii games using dolphin and it's very CPU dependent
3.) 7970 or GTX 680 GPU - I'm ok with stock clocks but would be nice bonus if there are room to OC
4.) PSU 500w - i'm also looking into upgradability in the future
5.) motherboard - i'm completely clueless on this one, it should obviously be small enough to fit into the SFF case and allow CPU upgrades later on.
6.) 8 GB DDR3 1600mhz - please suggest a brand for this
7.) HDD 120GB SSD + 1TB HD - please suggest a brand for this
8.) HeatSink, Cooling, Fans - no idea what to use
9.) Optical drive - this is optional
*
1. The X51 is about 10 litres in volume, and a comparable case would be only the SG05. The SG05 would only fits a 10 inch card, which means your option would be:
(a) GTX670 DirectCU mini
(b) Any reference GTX770 (warning: very tight fit, and may requires modding)
(b) Any reference GTX680

2. i7 doesn't make a difference in emulation, and they are dependent on single-threaded performance.

3. Read (1).

4. You won't be able to get a >500W PSU for the SG05 since this one is a SFX unit. However, if you are willing to go bigger, take a look at the SG08 instead. That one comes with a 600W SFX unit, which is aplenty for single GPU setups, including overclocking.

5. Take a look at the ASRock Z87E-ITX for the board.

6. Any low-profile DDR3 8GB 1600 should make it fine. tongue.gif

7. You have some choices on the SSD:
(a) Plextor M5S
(b) Crucial M4
© Samsung 830/840/840 Pro (Though I cannot recommend it since warranty can be an issue)
(d) Intel 330/335/520
For HDDs, it is recommended to get a 2.5 inch drive for that. WD Scorpio Blue 1TB should be OK.

8. For CPU cooler, you would need to go closed-loop watercooling since air cooling would be too large to fit inside the case. Antec Kuhler 620 should be fine and it should be an easy fit into the case, since the tubings are quite bendable.

9. There's no need for an optical drive, since slim optical drives are expensive (cheapest one would be RM299). Use an external one instead.

the price is obviously USD but are these component sourceable in lowyat / Malaysia?

I think you can get the z77i deluxe here IINM... Try looking at Garage Sales for that. Still, why are you looking at older CPUs where Haswell is already here. tongue.gif
Yes, those parts can be procured here, except for the CPU fan, but you can use the Antec 620 closed-loop cooler for that. brows.gif

thanks for the great replies all. Man, water cooling sounds pretty tough, I have not assembled any liquid cooling before. Are those already in a package with liquid inside and completely sealed off? or do i have to manage the liquid myself?
*
Closed-loop doesn't require much maintenance after all...
The liquid is actually sealed FYI... I think following the manual should work.
Yes, they come in a package IINM.

--> Currently use 350W PSU (Should i upgrade it?)

Sell off your GPU and the PSU. Both are unfit for gaming, and you can get some cash from there. tongue.gif
i3 3220-RM369
MSI H61M-P31/W8-RM155
Kingston 1x4GB Value-RM89

-No optical drive-
CM K280 Casing-RM128

Bear in mind Crysis 3 and Far Cry 3 are both CPU and GPU demanding.

Guys, need your opinion on this build :

Intel Core i7 4770K RM1029
Corsair Hydro H100i RM499
PLEXTOR M5S 128G RM 299
ASUS H87M-E RM 380
Fractal Design Define R4 RM 369
Leadtek GTX780 RM2399
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB HDD RM194
8GB Value RAM RM 174
Seasonic S12II 620W RM299

Anything to switch to be better value for money ? Thanks in advance.
*
1. Downgrade the Hydro H100i, and go for the Noctua NH-D14. It is quite a bit cheaper, RM289, and performs slightly worst than a H100i.
2. That board does not have overclocking capability. You will need a Z87 board to do so.
3. GPU is fine, and you can consider Palit GTX780 from GBros if you want to. Stock will be ready next week. brows.gif
4. Games do not take advantage of HyperThreading. You can get a i5 4670K, and you still have identical frame rates.
