Depends on what U like...I loved wandering the small lanes away from the main tourists streets...found many wonderful food , just follow where the locals go.The taxi dem expensive....every heartbeat will cost u every HKD1buck extra till u reach your destination. Food...i bought timsum...yucks!! Its hard and taste weird!! Dun even dare to taste another thing. The historical place...nothing much, just a bunch of shops tat closes dem early. Taxi to the airport wasnt as expensive as I expected ..paid like RM27 from city centre. if you have time, take the AP1 local bus...think it only cost like RM 3. I saved lots of money..either walking and checking sites along the way or take the free shutter provided by lots of casinos..treat the ferry terminal as a transit hub and get on the next free shuitter to another destination!! Take a trip down to Hong Kong and don't waste too much time in Macau if gambling is not your deal! |

Zhuhai is the nearest Chinese City on the Northern border of Macau..and btw, the border from Centre of Macau is only 3KM away (or ~10km from airport).
From Zhuhai, it is just about 1hr to Canton (New name =Guangxhou)...And Guanzhou is the 3rd largets city in China wth metro population more than Hong Kong! - You can try Goocle Earth to check where is Canton Hope some feedback on the taxi or bus rate to Zhuhai...BTW..be carefull wth the taxi drivers at Macau! I was conned badly during my 1995 trip....Brought me to a medical hall for foreigner & at the end I was forced to buy >RM1500 worth of medicine although I order ~RM300 only..the taxi guy probably pakat wth the owner!! Canton is under my KIV list only. My wife & daughter prefer Hong Kong...So probably I need to find a place to stay for a nite in HK if I skip Canton. Still long time to go ...Wondering why so less info on transport to the border
Nothing much in Macau. Can cover within 1/2 day...should venture North to China or Hong Kong.. I discovered a way to get free transport. Hope some feedback on the taxi or bus rate to Zhuhai... Hope onto the many free shuttle bus services offered by the casinos. if you are coming from the aiport, take a public bus from the airport to the ferry terminal. Many buses go that way.But if you have like few person, make sense to take cab..cost almost the same after pay fare + each piece of bag have to pay extra when u get on the bus. From the ferry terminal, just get onto any of the shuttle that goes into the casino...easier choose one of the bigger ones that's near by eg Wynner(spelling?) . Then when u get off at the casino, u get onto the buses that send ppl off to the ferry terminal as well as the zhuhai bus terminal. Check with bus driver which way it's going. I didnt check and assumed all pergi ferry terminal and ended up in Zhuahai by accident!!! This post has been edited by ??!!: Mar 25 2008, 01:11 AM |
