geee thanks stimix and Human Nature. Ima be there for like 3 nites 4 days , so i guess i'd have quite some time to roam around and check out its historical heritage. I've checked some webbies and boy, Macau does have many heritage sites (including its Canidrome, the one and only in asia it seems) but then, it'd be cool to know which are really interesting and worth visiting as i cant really see all, i guess. I've also seen Macau's tourism website and they have a few new places like the Science Centre and Panda Pavilion in Coloane.but so far i havent made up my mind if i wanted to go to those places.

but of course, Venetian and those major casinos are a must. Thats what Macau is mostly known for. LOL.

is the Zaia show at The Venetian worth watching in ur opinion?
*
Hi, Zaia is nice is you have not been to any Cirque De Soleil (fantasy theme) show, I love it..and then came The House Of Dancing Water (Oriental theme) at COD, which is very thrilling. Between this two, I would recommend HODW but you better book the tickets FAST (choose the seats at the front row 1-2 and have exta fun thumbup.gif )..Zaia likely to be available on the spot so no problem.

The Panda Pavilion is ok, but do check their website of the visiting hours/day..but if you have been to the one at Ocean park HK, you probably have seen it all...taking bus all the way to coloane is relaxing though..

Do share with us your experience when you return smile.gif

in macau we are using HKD or their own currency?
*
Their own currency is MOP, HK$1 ~ MOP1.03.
Advisable for you to request for the change to be returned in HKD.

what do you mean by motel-like? from outside, it looks like a renovated 3-4 storey shophouses, old building. looks fine if you just need a sleeping place and to keep your luggages.

Just came back from Macau. Had a wonderful experience staying in Grand Hyatt. Was welcomed with a bottle of white wine. Then the rest are history. Its easy to travel around as the transportation are free and the only thing i regretted is going to the Macau Tower. Waste of money, I would rather to take pictures at the outdoor area at ground floor.
*
glad you had a wonderful stay. i agree that macau tower has ntg much to offer, especially that moviegoers can head over to the cinema at galaxy now. unless, they wanna take the tower climbing package.

actually the reason im going to macau is because you know how they say that if u go HK u might as well visit macau too rite. and also the casino there, wanna have a look. im more into sight seeing, like the ruins of st paul etc etc.
*
st paul + senado square = touristy place, local biscuits, shopping
wynn = musical fountain, the prosperity tree, cassino, shoppinh
mgm = lion's bar, casino, shopping
old lisboa = lavish old style casino
grand lisboa = deco at lobby, dance show at the casino floor
sands casino = nothing much
fisherman's wharf = nothing much, deserted
venetian/four seasons = shopping, zaia, gondola, casino, street performance, playboy at bellini lounge, lord's stow tart
city of dream = mermaid, dragon treasure show, house of dancing water, hard rock casino, shopping, cubic club
galaxy = diamond fountain, dance show at casino floor, shopping, china rogue bar
panda pavillion = quite far at coloane

then you have the temples, churches, museums, buildings, parks

^ yes, for touch n go..but not possible for sweet own time, eating, gamble abit haha

These places are near/beside to one another:

venetian/galaxy/city of dreams - free shuttle bus/walking distance
wynn/mgm/lisboa - walking distance (st paul/senado is about 10 mins walking from lisboa)

To move between taipa and mainland, these casinos have shuttles:
venetian-sands
mgm-city of dreams
galaxy-star galaxy

just a tip, you can just use Ferry terminal as main bus stop to change bus to other hotel. This is what i did as most hotel provided transport to Ferry terminal.
*
yes, same for airport too just have to travel longer distance and longer waiting time. either way, i love the transportation in macau smile.gif

bro i goin there for 1 day trip then back to hk

can suggest me itinerary ? since u already been there, memory still fresh smile.gif

i will gamble at nite, staying at metropark hotel

advisable to take cab or free shuttle bus?
*
Which casino you plan to win some money? if i am not mistaken there is no casino in this hotel but do provide free shuttle service to ferry/airport.

Since it is located at the mainland, start by walking walking from MGM to Wynns and then straight to Senado Square/St Paul. Here, tourists like to try the egg tarts/pork burger. lunchtime can try some macau food like cheese baked rice, ask around.

Since you are only for a single day trip time is a concern, take cab to venetian (or bus number MT4). Else, you can always walk back to MGM/Starworld hotel for free shuttle to COD/galaxy (refer to few post above). Dont miss the bubble treasure dragon show at COD and Lord Stow's egg tart at the venetian.

Ok, you will never go wrong with the casino at the venetian, or you could also try your luck at the hard rock casion for a different environment (and hot waiteress, dealer). Else, you can head back to the mainland and stop by at the old lisboa and grand lisboa.

Tips, make a casino membership card to collect points. Some give you discount at their shopping outlets/restaurants.

Well, that's a brief one day trip. refer to above feww post where i summarized some attraction at each place.

thanks for the guidance bro

macau only c this senado square/st paul and COD?

the show in COD need to pay? every hour got show or ...

hard rock casino nearby venetian?

i guess those casino can visit after 8pm.....meanwhile i got whole evening....anymore suggestion ?
*
nola..got many others, temples, churches, museums depending on your preference. i already covered them in my first visit and not so into these places.

the show in COD need to pay, but is cheap. show is every 30 minutes starting from noon. refer to the city of dream website. city of dream which houses hard rock casino is just opposite venetian. galaxy is on the other side of venetian too but nothing much there.

Whole evening, shopping? or just take a stroll to taipa old village? i can spend whole day just walking from streets to streets.

Catch zaia cirque de soleil show at venetian? or house of dancing water at COD? both need to pay and HOTW need early reservation. Adult entertainment?

When people go to Macau, all they think of is the casinos. The casinos are fine but if you are going to Macau on a day trip over from HK, then you are going to miss much of the charms Macau has to offer. On a day trip, you are probably going to spend half that time in some glitzy casinos leaving you with a rushed blur to visit the other things.

Here is my advise to people going to Macau:

1. If you are going there with the aim of gambling then you need no guide. Just hop onto any one of the free shuttle buses available at the ferry terminal and you are all set.

2. If you are going to Macau to explore Macau then I would recommend at least a 3 night stay. The good thing about Macau is that it's a small place. You can cover the Macau peninsula on foot if you wanted to. Getting around in Macau is simple. Free shuttle buses from major casinos can be found from most major hotels/casinos.

When in Macau:

a. Sample the Portuguese food. Macau has been under Portuguese rule and has develop a unique blend of east & west.

b. Visit the Historic Center. This covers the St. Paul ruins and some cathedrals around the area. You will need a day to cover this at a comfortable pace. Get a map from the airport that covers the historic center. They are free. You can start from the south of the Macau peninsula at A-Ma Temple and work your way upwards to Senado Square.

c. Visit Coloane. There you can see the rural lifestyle in Macau which contrasts the one in the Macau peninsula. Eat at Fernando's if you can get a place. It's the most famous Portuguese restaurant in Macau located in Hac Sa beach. Find Lord Stow's famous portuguese egg tart shop.

d. Tour the casinos. Visit the Venetian and the COD. They are the largest casinos in Asia after all. Take a walk around the Lisboa/Grand Lisboa/Wynn's casinos at night and enjoy the night view.

If you are interested, you can read about my trip there somewhere late in 2010 from the link below:

Amazing photos! Unlike you, I got the opportunity for a nice english breakfast at coloane's lord stow. Nice ambience, beats the out at venetian anytime smile.gif
