Bro what is your budget?

Hotels in Macau is not cheap infact more expensive than HK. I choose staying in Chinese City rather than Macau. Lucky I got a cheap rate on my last day while returning to Macau. I stayed at New Century Casino hotel for RM150. probably the cheapest so far. I got it from a member in garage sale. It's a vacation club entitlement thingy so can get it cheaper ..normal rate ~RM300/nite

Hi people out there, I am heading to macau on this 29th february 2009, but i still dint plan anything yet since i know nothing about that place. I am going to stay there for 4 days 3 nights, with my mom and my little brother.

So any recommendations for me to visit? I plan to spend first day on macau, 2nd day on chu hai, 3rd day on chuhai/hk and 4th day macau(going back).

Heard that there is nothing much interesting place in macau and able to spend just 1/2 day on it. But unfortunately my mom has booked and paid MYR310 for a hotel named Victoria hotel(3 stars).
After i go through this thread, i found that it is kinda expensive compared to others.

Well, so we are forced to stay at macau for the 1st day, any interesting place at macau worth to visit? i am 20 yearsold this year and is there any age limit at their casino? heard it is 18+, anyone can double confirm me here?

so conclusion,
-any interesting place to visit for the whole day at macau? (im staying there too for a night)
-age limit for casino?
-any interesting place to pay a visit on zhuhai?
-i able to rush to hongkong on 3rd day?

ohwell im just newb to all this, first time backpacking and i hope sifus here might help, doenst want to get conned.

-any interesting place to visit for the whole day at macau? (im staying there too for a night)

- Take free bus ride to Venetian
- Walk from Senado square till St Paul ruin B4 that eat Margaret egg tart at the back of Grand Lisboa. At senado, try the Milk jelly
- & thereafter to the bck Na cha temple & the remaining walled city, & also climb the hill beside St Paul Up to the gigantic Portuguese fort & the new museum
- Take taxi or public bus to Ah Ma temple & probably stop at Macau Tower. b4 bck to Macau

-age limit for casino? Not sure but for sure small kids cannot-lah esp children. thus my daughter & my wife was outside the casino while I make 1 round without gambling. On my last day, My hotel in macasu is also another huge casino...me too make  1 round while my daughter inside the hotel room...Generally they dun really check your age..from what I observed...so if u are 16 but look like 20 for sure ok-lah

-any interesting place to pay a visit on zhuhai?

B4 going make sure you apply for China Visa in KL 1st RM30/pax
- Gongbei underground shopping mall
- Lian hua road st shopping..very long..street.. (Right side 2nd smaller street from Gongbei gate)
- Sea lady statue of Zhuhai & also the park. I saw another hill park wth small cable car just about 10-15km from Zhuhai on my way to Guangzhou

-i able to rush to hongkong on 3rd day?
Sure no problem..just take the 1 hr ferry to hong Kong either at Tsim Sa Shui side or Hong Kong Island...U will be cak to Macau at the end of the day...

ohwell im just newb to all this, first time backpacking and i hope sifus here might help, doenst want to get conned.

Gongbei underground mall just right after the immigration gate is something like Sg Wang..Yes Nothing much to see in Zhuhai except the shopping..infact the shopping in Zhuhai actually better than Macau & Guangzhou! Macau - to high class & more expensive than Hong Kong! - The only real shopping mall I veisited -Venetian! - just like Pavilion/KLCC - can see but cannot buy!

No idea on Victoria Hotel. More interesting places probably eating....the macau chinese porkchop burger (I think try), Coloane Village (South of Venetian) to try another famous egg tart, colonial houses (I think those green houses appeared b4 in one of the TVB series)

In Coloane is a famous Portugese restaurant (Fernando's). I like the food there, very yummy, popular, cash-only, and sometimes service not so good (esp. when crowded). Taxi's generally know where it is, since tourists like to go.

macau is a very small island. Nothing much to do besides gambling and night life. It's more suitable for adults as you can go for the night scene where you can watch adult shows and so on.

I previously went with kids, so only can only shop around and visit some sites. But got a chance to stay in venetian hotel. Very nice hotel.

This of it like Genting Highland where the main attraction is the casino. The rest are side dishes where the main dish is casino. Still, it's quite nice for first timers as there are nice food there like the famous portuguese egg tart and it's pork burger.

Due to proximity between Macau/Zhuhai/Guangzhou/Shenzen/HK and efficient + convenient transportation network, it is possible. Anyway, hehehe...life is short, so try to make the best of it.

Anyway, I am planning to go to Macau again next year in March 2010 (manage to get airasia 0 fare ticket) and include/cover HK Disneyland next time.

Last month I have also covered from Penang - van to Krabi/AoNang (1 nite) - boat to Phi Phi Island (1 nite) - boat to Phuket (1nite) - bus to Bangkok (1nite) - Bangkok (1nite) - van to Pattaya (1 nite) - back to Bangkok and fly back to Penang.

Anyone else can share similar adventures?

Just out of curiosity, why do you guys organize trips like this? Do you really find such hectic schedules fun? Maybe I'm just old (I'm 33) but I very much prefer leisurely holidays and take the time to properly enjoy each place. This is also why I tend to hate organized tours because they are always hurrying you to get from place to place. For example, my wife and I are going to only Hong Kong / Macau for 4 nights the week after next. We intend to sleep late (we're on holiday!), spend time swimming in the hotel pool etc., and take slow walks. This wouldn't be possible if you tried to pack in lots of cities in such a short time.

During our honeymoon in France, we spent a week in just two cities, Paris and Arles, and we still felt that we didn't have enough time to appreciate Paris properly. I can't imagine what it would be like to go on one of those whole of Europe in 1 week tours.

hehehe..I am 37. The ones that I did was on my own travelling. Not using travel agent. Due to busy schedules, normally anytime when got chance, will try to do this. Easy if u travel alone. And the purpose is to scout first (get first hand and real info (instead of reading other people trips), city maps, rail maps, hotel location, nightlife etc) so that it would be easy for future visit. Of course the downside u cannot cover every place but it would be useful if u intend to visit again later. Do your homework first before visiting then I would already have specific place to go. yes, agree with u. I am not into organised tour historical visit.

Last time when Europe, manage to cover London-Paris-Geneva-Berne. I wont take those Europe tours as well. Better find a place you want to go and plan from there provided u already know what u want. Dont let people decide for u.

Btw, if u into beach and like to spend time with your loved ones, i strongly recommend Boracay, Philippines (go to Cebu - fly to Caticlan and boat to Boracay) or into romantic getaway, go to Yongpyeong, South Korea (where they filmed Winter Sonata. Guarantee your loved ones will love u forever)...opss...sorry off topic here guys.
