Hi guy, would like to have a quick check with everyone on airport departure tax.

I'm currently in Macau now and I heard I need to save up some local currency (MOL) to pay as tax when I'm heading back to Malaysia.

Is this true? If yes, how much local currency I need to save/pay.

Also, I'll be heading over to Hong Kong via ferry, do I have to pay departure tax too? Which means I'll have to pay twice in total (1. Leaving to HK, 2. Leaving back to Malaysia). Is this correct?

Your enlightenment is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Nope, so such thing. It is already included in your flight ticket if you are departing from the airport.

Two B Reserve HK$1,000! Save 35%

Join us as we celebrate Macau’s must-see spectacular at City of Dreams!
Booking period: 29 Aug to 30 Sep
Applicable show dates: 1 Sep to 20 Dec (reserve 3 days in advance)
*An additional HK$100 applies for 2 Saturday tickets
Booking: (853) 8868 6767
www.thehouseofdancingwater.com

Chanced upon the above offer which starts today (29/8/2014) and booked immediately!

Although it has been said here that C Reserve (ie Category 4) is good enough, B Reserve (Category 3) tickets are even cheaper now, with this offer!

A really good time to grab tickets if you plan to go to Macau from 1/9/2014 to 20/12/2014, better deal than the MasterCard offer at HK$702 for B Reserve (Plus One Free Dragon’s Treasure show ticket). Note: Dragon's Treasure costs HK$50 but it is easy to qualify for free tickets - see here.

perfectly safe. there will be some taxi asking for a flat rate at the airport instead of using meter. just ignore and take the free shuttle bus or get the next taxi.

List of places to go :

1. Ruins of St Paul
2. Senado Square
3. Grand Prix Musuem
4. Venetian Macau
5. City of Dreams

Is it possible if I can rely only on public transport?

Venetian-COD, walk across the street.

Take shuttle bus from Venetian/COD to Galaxy. Then take shuttle bus from Galaxy to Senado. Walk up to St Paul. All FOC biggrin.gif

Never been to the museum so no idea but i guess just few minutes taxi ride from senado square.

MOP is Macau Pataca, their currency. Never heard of MOL or MPM before. I usually just convert MYR to HKD.

You can see people lining up for taxis once you stepped out of the airport. Lately, there are cases of taxis from airport that do not use meter (will quote you a figure) so better ask the driver first.

Alright. Thanks for the info. By da way im jus tinking to visit their grand prix museum, any comment?

And do they accept hkd or is it only MOP? understand that the conversion of hkd is better than MOP..
