Without derailing the thread, I would like to offer my view regarding Sony DSLR.If you have experience with Sony DSLR, you would notice that Sony has the lousiest JPEG algorithm among all DSLR brands. And yes, other DSLR competitors who use the same Sony sensor get better results!!!!
E.g. Nikon and Pentax both have been using Sony sensors but have much better algorithms. I noticed the Xperia line has the same issue too.
