the camera hump at the back makes it cannot lie flat properly  sweat.gif

for sure, this hot babe need some bikini on to protect those certain areas

nonetheless, it looks hot irregardless it has bikini on or not\

and looking at these pics. it seems 1020 is the onli lumia model with a hand strap hook built on to the body  hmm.gif
these hooks had been quite rare in the current era of handphones regardless the brand
*
For me the idea of strap are a sign for people to pull your phones out (stealing) so perhaps culture differ so I wouldn't want to put the strap on my phone at all. But perhaps for some people, it could be a great addition for pulling out the phone.

Bikini part, Andrew mentioned the wireless charging cover is,
- add bulks to the phone
- wireless charging needs to be align properly
- rely on 4 tiny wings to click

Looks like he needs the fat pillow. whistling.gif

Just curious, for those who own this phone, what's the image processing lag between shots? 3s? 2s?

QUOTE(lkhoe @ Aug 28 2013, 11:45 AM)
I get about 5s from shutter sound to when the camera is ready for next shot. Long time IMO.

Some review by DPReviw:
"The Lumia 1020’s image quality is best-in-class: in both bright and low light conditions, it delivers impressive performance. In good light, the high-resolution sensor captures a tremendous amount of detail, even in darker, low-contrast parts of a scene that many competitors tend to smear with noise reduction. Colors are punchy but generally well rendered. The 5MP images are nicely sharpened and ready for sharing."

for those who doesn't know dpreview, it's basically a photographers porn site for review.

Also the points:
The Apple iPhone 5 camera scored a 8.0
The HTC One camera scored a 7.5
The Samsung Galaxy S4 scored an 8.0
The Blackberry Z10 camera scored a 6.9
The Nokia 808 Pureview score a 9.0.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 score a 8.8.

http://connect.dpreview.com/post/523489204...0-camera-review

The good and the bad:
The Good

Best-in-class overall image quality
Zoom doesn’t compromise image quality
Best-in-class low light performance
Well-designed full manual control in camera app
Sunlight-visible screen
Solid ergonomics with two-stage shutter release
Very good flash performance
Nice panorama mode
Very good video quality, especially in low light
Optional camera grip available

The Bad

Long shot-to-shot times
Slow camera app startup
No control over imaging parameters like sharpening, saturation or contrast
No HDR or true burst modes
Images soft in corners
Imaging app support limited compared to closest competition

There are working on filling up the apps store with 100 locally made apps by our own Malaysia developers under the icon smart partnership . You should be able to see under Nokia highlights/ icon. The numbers of locally made apps are flooding in right now.
*
I had the idea of compiling the local apps into a thread and let them shine and perhaps comments on it so that the developers of those app at least have some deep insights on how to improve.

I still remember Nokia company paying 3 figures money for those students who successfully submitted their assignment apps to the Ovi store.

QUOTE(jonchai @ Sep 5 2013, 08:29 AM)
While apps do matter, it's not so much of a deal breaker as the lack of features.

I once approached a company (name confidential) with 20+ men with the intent to sell a full package to them, a web service that runs on web (obviously), desktop and mobile app (I'm a MSFT guy, so WinPhone it is). I tried to get them to adopt Lumia 620 (for staff), Lumia 820 / 920 (for execs). The deal didn't materialize.

Why? Lack of features. I demonstrated a lot of features using my 920 back then, and then I let the top execs get their hands on it. The very first question one of them asked, how to attach documents through emails. I showed them, but they were dumbfounded .... It could only attach one doc per email. Seriously? Back then, there was only PDF Reader from MSFT. Again, how to attach PDF, I was screwed.

I demonstrated an alternative, through the use of SkyDrive, but they didn't buy the idea. Next up, the IT guy asked, how to set static IP? Again, I couldn't answer. Corporates sometimes don't just rely on DHCP to do the job. They have specific IP for each device that connects to the network for administrative purposes.

These are very important features, yet, to date, still nowhere to be found. WP, to date, is still very much a commercial phone, not recommended for enterprise use. Had they included those features, imagine how many companies service providers like me could approach? Imagine how many companies are already using Windows Phone right now?
*
jon, *pats shoulder*

All we can do is ask and hope for the best for WP8. Someday those features will be implemented or perhaps a better solution will come out.

Thanks for noticing.

Will be featuring a thread with local apps when I have the time.

True.
The Note 3 have great features on usability especially for Power Users. Kinda feel like Tablet in small HD screen with the Pen features. Very practical and usability.

Honestly, as one mentioned earlier, Windows Phone really lack many Power Features, even basic feature compare to Android. But I am buying Lumia 1020 for its Camera 'A Superior Camera always with me', not exactly required all those Features. I can live without them, but it would a PLUS, if Microsoft could provide them soon, especially with next WP OS. This is my preference.

I agreed that Windows Phone definitely need to have these features in order to grow substantially into the next years/quarters, to meet its Billions-WP target.

Again, Nokia Malaysia could surprise us.
Remember the L925 where its Presentation Slides show RM,1799 or RM,1899 something like that, but during actual Retail Launch, the RRP only RM1,599. Yet, Superbuy.my (Malaysia Online Retailer) offering almost additional RM100 discount on the launch day in their website.
*
And please don't drop the phone when purchasing *touch wood*.

I think you can pick Note 3 if you want and perhaps get a Sony QX lens for the bundle, that would be really nice since you can take good pictures with that lens but with one hand holding a lens and a giant phone, it's not wise to do that.

I really love Android with all the available apps but when it comes to "practical", I prefer WP8. thumbup.gif

yeah, cos it will leave Note 3 WAY FAR BEHIND!!!  biggrin.gif
Just kidding... the chances will still be Samsung reigns the mobile world due to its marketing that already implant the impression that it is cool and smart to own a Samsung device.
*
It's really all about hype.

Yesterday I was hiking on one of the hill, the place was beautiful during sun rise. At there, some of the folks are carrying a smartphone, most of them don't really how to use their phones to shoot nor tweak the settings, I'm puzzled when they even asked me to how to review the photos.

Now, I don't blame them, they just need a reliable smartphone that is easy to use. Here, I have demonstrated a Nokia phone to them on the ability to hold the shutter button to launch the camera, take a shot (you should see some of their faces!), review the picture by swiping right. JOB DONE! Some people might even think that I'm using an actual camera. laugh.gif

So, which is why I have mentioned a few times on Lumia being a practical shooter phone.

Indeed. I miss the "Swipe Right to View" gesture on the stock Camera. Being using Nokia Pro Camera now only.
Long press to fire up camera is really convenient feature that should be available in all smart phones.
*
Oh here comes my rant,

Nokia Pro Cam & Default Cam
This camera app has no "last settings" meaning you have to set the settings again if you've close the app and there's no auto maximum iso settings available in both the cameras, ISO 3200 is not really useful.

Yes, that's what I said, but if you've been a WP user since its first iteration, you'd know that back in WP7, the default camera didn't even allow you to save settings, which was really  mad.gif

So I believe it will come to ProCam soon enough. Drop a suggestion to Nokia.

On your pro cam app, settings ~> Feedback.

weirdguy, 920. smile.gif (You can click the image to find out more shots, you can tell by how it's named)

I'm disappointed to see MS being so half-assed about WP, after all their yap-yap-yap saying otherwise. I want to see this platform succeed, but it cannot succeed if the team keep taking years to implement rotation lock, app kill switch, call blocking and all those mundane, _basic_ stuff that should've been there from day one.
*
How much longer do we need to wait for the mundane features?

oh the never ending waiting. sweat.gif

Lumia device tend to have white balance issue, I dunno why is that so. But luckily that white balance can be tweaked with the preset 4 options. They said it has something to do with the OIS or somesort, but I just simply don't understand. Maybe there is someone care to clarify?
*
Every Lumia since the 800, 900 has this white balance issue, just that WP8 has less of this hiccups.

QUOTE(arbelnox @ Sep 10 2013, 08:11 AM)
yeah, for some reason, Sony Xperia team really should borrow some technicians from the Sony Alpha Camera team. The camera on the Xperia just sucks whole time, even the other competitors who use the same camera module from Sony can tweak the photo result better. I love Sony products, but when it comes to Xperia Camera, I just can only shake head.
*
Hmm... I always thought Sony likes to integrate their technologies and pack it up as one, just like the Sony Ericsson's K's series Cybershot. Perhaps in the future maybe?

What happen to the Xperia? I always thought the Z1/Honami takes good picture?

---
Fhaarkas's dilemma has always been part of mine back in the WP7 before I switch,

- lack of basic features, features that aren't used by many but happy to see it there.
- MSFT being NA-oriented, as well as all their other services, take their Xbox and Windows Lives Game DRM for example. laugh.gif
- Hardcore WP8 users felt like white rats.
- MSFT being slowpoke.
- WP team making dumb decisions?

To make you feel much more better when using a Lumia phone, like how Nokia would advertise their phones,

+ It's a camera with some smartphone functions.

---offtopic---
Allow me to post some of my past-WP7 phones, HTC HD7 was one of my favourite, it has a fake BoomSound and the kickstand was simply godsend. My wish with hTC is that they can restart the whole thing into a new HTC HD8, that would be great.

Well I'm letting off extra stocks of L925 from Zitron at 1400 anyone interested can let me know.

Also well, this 1020 price its yet to be known, much rumor saying that it will be over 2k, lets just hope its not that bad =/

Rumor saying that Lowyat.NET's Storekini.com might've got something up their sleeve on this L1020, can't wait for next week!
