I think you have all missed the point of the 1020.

It is not meant for us Nokia die-hards. It is meant to lure away more ImaDrone users.
I see the 1020 as a lateral release to the 92x series. The more reasons you give Imadrone users to move away from their current devices the better chance you have of snagging them for good once they realize how crappy ios and droid are. Then they realize just how superior Nokia phones are regardless of OS.

worth reading from this forum. some points that we need to be clear of cool2.gif

http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-1020/233024-6.htm

yep, 808 is definitely better than 1020. no one could ever deny it.

but im happy so far with 1020. some sacrifice is needed over smaller image sensor and BSI.
we just need to get along with it. this phone wasn't for us the die-hard Nokia fans.

its finally FOR ALL OF SMARTPHONE USERS OUT THERE thumbup.gif

Give and Take; Seeing the sample and videos they capture the presentation sample on GsmArena blog, it's very good already.
It's capable of producing good quality 38MP file plus PureView mode which provide true losses zoom and there is OIS.
And finally, it's running WP8 (albeit I'm not a fan of WP), but comparing with dated Symbian, at least you have more modern apps, features, etc.
In terms of Camera and the OS, there is give and take for both.

For me, I would say it's worth to upgrade from 808PV, to get a more useful smartphone with great camera. Just hoping the price isn't too steep.

yep. can't argue more with that. can't wait to laid off my hands over this ten-twenty device thumbup.gif

Yea OIS and better low light performance makes 1020 a worth phone to go for especially with 41MP.

But in detail I have a feeling 808 pureview is better.

Audio recording 808 is better
*
1020 stereo recording somewhat narrower (didn't feel stereo-ish) than 808 shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif

sifu, its not your feeling. its FACT. 808 is better in terms of image. anyone can see that tongue.gif

overall its a good combination. To capture the photos i did on 808 pureview is indeed very challenging. Especially low light shutter speed exposure very long.

i feel that bruhh laugh.gif it's indeed very-very challenging.

another comparison and this time 1020 vs 808 thumbup.gif

how fast the 1020 and 808 shoot in lowlight? not long exposure type, if let it auto?

i mean SPEED  hmm.gif
*
of course low light image quality 808 better. but will be blurry and weird combination of ISO and shutter speed.

but 1020 fix it all. heard the auto mode got lots of praise from the reviewers. with 6 lens and and up to ISO 4000, surely low light will be oke whistling.gif

Casual will love the over-processed results. but so far, I am satisfied with 1020.
like in all condition, 1020 just killed it! even it cannot beat the almight 808,

it is still a very good move introducing 41mp to the world.

I would tend to agree, the average consumer will prefer the post processed look; i.e. similar to Apple and Android.
And i Hope Nokia adds a "natural or vivid" setting so users can change the amount of auto sharpening done, so they can cater for both groups of consumers.
This has to be priced at less than RM2K (say RM1899 ?). Anything higher and people will wait (including me) when it hits the next price cut at RM1699+/- level.
*
Nokia should include that option. what's wrong with applying that, Elop?? whistling.gif

about the price, dun wuri lama-lama turun jugak ini bukan Apple laugh.gif

QUOTE(Najmods @ Aug 5 2013, 12:10 AM)
Im happy that the shutter speed is getting longer and longer, N8 only limited to half a second, 808 is 2.7 sec and this 1020 at 4 sec. But I would like to see lower ISO preferably 50 then it would be great. Still they took this long to do it, my old Sony k850 could do 2 sec  exposure and ISO as low as 40 with modded camera driver. Landscape at night looks amazing.
*
I would love to see ISO 50 as well! 1020 was just awesome! the first Nokia phone to include full manual control (well, not all feature. at least SOMETHING)

QUOTE(freakenstein @ Aug 5 2013, 06:58 AM)
Yea , I've been wondering for quite some time , why do phones not come with 1080p @ 60fps option? Not that it couldn't handle the processing. Last I seen was that the S4 had the option on the specs that was shown in their unveiling event but that was a typo I guess.
*
I would love that! I still don't understand why octa-core S4 still cannot do 60fps vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

Its unfair you ask specify question like that u should also ask why lumia cant real time multi task when symbian less than 1ghz single core can.
*
what phone can do real-time multi task? I thought Android and iOS did not have any of that shakehead.gif

seriously, Symbian dies when we actually needed it. RIP man RIP blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

I be honest with you android does sux when its jellybean below aka 4.0

When its 4.0 above thats where the experience is acceptable.

I can swap viber call , line calls, whatsapp, twitter, instagram, web browsing all at once and its not lagging even playing Real Racing 3.

If you open too many eventually it will lag.

Even i buy a Nokia Lumia 1020 it will be my 2nd phone. So before i consider this phone i need to see what android phone to replace my note 2.

Everything else it beats Nokia Lumia 1020 except camera.
*
nice. no wonder people still love Android. probably I need to own one of those to understand more hmm.gif

even you buy android make sure its minimum quad core and 2GB ram if not it will lag like hell. Must run jelly bean

On a samsung note 2 they plenty of feature to play with non stop. Note 2 is about 7months old already these the features it have. The brand new Nokia Lumia 1020 at 2013 July still do not have 70% of its features and still not real time multi tasking.

I like nokia but honestly they are already leaving out di.
*
we all due respect towards all smartphones. Personally I think Android is the best OS available now because it is an open system OS and pretty user-friendly.

Nokia don't deserve to be no. 1 spot again. at least yet. We all know WP's major problem but still, it is still a progress for them to climb and rise again.

like I said, I am with Nokia because of its precise camera quality.
both photo and video just STUNNING!

if Nokia became sh*t in camera,
I'll be the first to be leaving Nokia whistling.gif

Nokia had that chance on maemo and meego but they choose to let it die. Android is not the best but for flexibility its the only ONE.
*
we all know MeeGo/Maemo is DA BOMB thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

but so far I updated my 920 to Amber the camera is noticeably better.
especially for the low light photography. can't wait for to taste Pro Cam when its available.
