Hi there, I will be going to a trip soon and I'm looking to buy an extra battery. However, after asking around, I find that original Canon Battery LP-E8 is quite expensive, so I intend to buy a 3rd party instead. Just want to ask does using this kind of battery will be harmful[like explosion and stuffs] ?

Thanks

I have been using Phottix battery for my previous 400D and now 40D for probably 6-8 years and no issue at all. And, I bought it for RM50 each few years back then.

Anyone of you here are using Canon 6D pairing with Tamron 24-70 VC? Any advice? Thinking of getting this for general usage.

YL is only selling at RM 4900 for imported unit.
1 year shop warranty.

That was quoted when asked 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the info! Cool!

Got the 6D from YL, now having a lens dilemma.

YL told me that their 35mm f2 has been discontinued despite their website showing RM990.

Shashiki is selling for at least 1.1k

wonder if I should just opt for a second hand 50mm 1.4

You got an import set or CMM? If it's import set, do you know how does it work? If there's problem who should I send to? Thanks biggrin.gif

Import set from YL.

Since YL is rather established in Malaysia and they have multiple stores now, I took the risk. They told me that if there's any problem, head to them.

They had a service centre in Pudu, so I'm assuming that they'll either fix the problems themselves or send it to the local canon warranty from the country which they got it from.

Is there international warranty that comes with it?

I thought camera and lenses have no international warranty?
It only has country specific warranty, I think. hmm.gif

Oh, okay. Not sure about all these things sweat.gif Well, then will just rely on the shop's warranty.

oh... didn't know that, but it's good to know there's a solution incase the focusing gone wrong.

Used my friend's sigma 70-200 to shoot sports today, found out that some of the shots looked really soft while some looked sharp. Is the softness caused by inaccurate focusing caused by the lens (but the softness doesn't look like OOF kind of bokeh thing) or the lens is that soft (but some of the shots look sharp).

hmm.... rclxub.gif

which 70-200 is it? the OS version? Just got a second hand few days ago but didn't really try it yet. Hopefully this copy is reasonably sharp

I just got a 6d with Tamron 24-70 VC and works well for me, kinda huge leap from 40d. But then there is this common problem of battery draining so be careful when you're getting your tamron. However, you can easily fix it by sending it to futuromic centre. I get mine done in couple of days.

And yeah, 1 cross type is not a problem for me, at least for now. I've been using the center focus point for like 99% of the time.

Here's a link of the problem.

wah din't know about this, thanks for the info...does this only affect the 6d? does it affect other model? like 5d2, 60d...etc?

erm, based on my research only 6d faces the problem. and futuromic is well aware of the problem as well. the later batch no longer has the same problem.

When out in the open snapping landscapes or at a seaside taking shots of waves, I miss the confidence of the weather sealing of the MKII. I have friend's MK3 spoilt by just a small splash of wave while another's MK2 next to it just kept on snapping happily. Since then, I've been paranoid whenever I see clouds or some waves approaching, so much so, that I go everywhere with a DSLR raincoat now. Just my honest sharing lar.

I did little bit of reading about weather sealing for 6d and 5dmkiii in dpreview few days back. Some of them encountered the problem that when it is attached with battery grip, they have problem with their camera. Personally I did shot quite a lot under heavy snow/showering with my 40d without grip attached paired with 15-85 and so far no problem. Phew sweat.gif

For rain... it's not the damage I'm concerned.
But rather those stubborn white water stains on the focusing/zooming ring of my lens. It's a pain to remove them...

I spent so many hours cleaning them with cotton bud and minyak kapak sweat.gif
