I heard about DSLR is in part of the course, but Wacom Bamboo Pen...? I assumed that's only needed in certain majors after I finish my alpha year (hopefully)
What about the prices for those DSLRs? My budget is low, most probably won't get myself one this soon

You can always get advice from the lecturer, if it is indeed a requirement. Plenty of time for you to think about the DSLR that time. But not now, 1st class not even started yet.

Prices for those DSLR : Nikon D3200 with 18-55mm lens RM1.8k // Canon EOS 650D with 18-55mm lens RM2.2k. Be careful when purchasing the camera , if can , do not buy it from those low rated online store.

Wacom Bamboo is needed for digital painting only, you can still use it for any other casual purposes to replace your mouse but it'll be a waste if you don't do digital painting that often.

Go to garage sales and have a look, you can either opt for 2nd hand if your budget is really tight.
Else just look for those Entry level DSLR, u can go to the photography section and enquire more.
