No , it's like considered "recognised" by MMU so that no random cars can go into the campus 
However , I heard some of my friends said if you don't have the sticker , and you park your car overnight in MMU , they will clamp your car and you need to pay RM 50 to un-clamp it . Not sure .
And like smile93 said , it is an entry pass .

If you park at the correct space, like at your hostel dedicated parking lot, I think it is fine.

But in my opinion, you should get the entry pass as soon as possible.
