lady snowblood (start with this first) - less than 10 vols
lone wolf and cub - 30+ vol (one of the best ending, u may end up in tears...)
samurai executioner - 20+ vol
path of the assassin - 20+ vol (a bit boring, less action, more drama, but very informative on war strategem)

all are edo-period samurai manga. all are completed series. all are macho, and lots of nudity.
