This is what I want to know also. I have been doing readings all morning with regards to the skid plate. Not only for Forte, but other cars too. Some car has it from stock, some car don't. But all the information online from countries with 4 season. Alot of people will not replace it if it is broken by thick icing because averagely they need to pay RM 700 for a piece.
There is no unanimous review on what this plate will do to the engine compartment. No one said it will reduce this or increase that.
So we would like to know what will this plate do to Forte in terms of heat, FC, rolling resistance, noise. All might be affected in a little towards good or bad. Heat might be trapped because the air discharge is now only 2 holes at the back end of the plate instead of the whole bonnet bottom. This will be affected during idling. The fan turn off and on more frequently? This affects FC? FC improve because of the aerodynamics? Rolling resistance decrease because of aerodynamics? Noice decrease because it lessen the turbulance in the engine compartment? The last thing I want is to have my engine compartment temperature increase.
I cannot brain how this works. If there is any one out there installed this for their forte, please advice how it worked for your car, for better or worse.
Edit: One more post that I hav read which sounded logical to me. With the undercarriage cover installed, when you are driving, you ensure that the air from the front goes into the grill and cools the radiator, then leave from the back end of plate's air discharge. This hence increase engine cooling. The plate eliminates radiator air bypass as some air goes through the radiator and some goes to the bottom bonnet. I buy the idea of this post. As for idling and jam, I have still not read on how this will work.
Hi, i installed this orsen shield right after i got the car. So im not so sure about any noise reduction or so. There is no unanimous review on what this plate will do to the engine compartment. No one said it will reduce this or increase that.

My main reason to install it is just for the sake of protecting the undercarriage. As to prevent mud water or damage caused by uneven roads.
As for fuel consumption. I think the savings is quite negligible . And for noise, the less turbulence caused might indeed reduce noise though..
