which year car?

if still within warranty, if first 2 year from NAZA nvm, if only the remaining only extended warranty from insurance company, please check the maintenance and service record.

even slightly late or slightly exceed mileage for service will void your warranty from insurance panel.

On top of that, all common rules in buying a second hand car applies.

1) Check paint - If the car has perfect paint, don't buy. No dealer will repaint the whole car for you. Something must have happened before to the car.

2) Drive the car around - Get every one to shut up and off radio to check on irregular noise. Not dash board sound only. My car if she is in bad mood, dash board rattles, then I will drive slower.

3) Check for any irregular mods (non reversal, non plug and play) - Non plug and play means you cannot restore your car to stock stage. Will hamper warranty. Unless ex-user put in turbo for you then don't complain.

4) Check the tyre against millage - Low millage high tyre wear means this fellow before you is pushing the car. High millage low wear? He drives softly, or he just changed tyre.

5) Smell the car - See if there is any cigeratte smell (preference) or any lady smell if stated in the add is 'one careful lady driver'. This phrase seems to catch my attention every time.

6) Very important - Check if anyone hampers the plate stating engine number, chasis number. Just in case. Compare it with the actual chasis number on chasis and engine number on engine. Also check on whatever documents you can get your hands on before signing.

7) Others include oil leakage in engine compartment, water leakage in cabin, boot.

SC will not install anything not approved for you. Max that they can do is close one eye on what you did there. When you go service, just tell them not to touch your spark plug or filter at all. Make sure to ask them to ommit the part fee and labour charge of changing. These are wear and tear parts which are not covered by warranty anyway.

Actually, I would rather let the SC charge me for those parts that they supposed to replace for me. That way, in the records no one (most importantly, insurance company for our +3 years warranty) knows you modded wink.gif

What I did for my K&N filter was replace back to original just before service and let them change the air filter for me biggrin.gif

I also thought about that. But then it defeats the purpose of waiting until the proper service interval to change the parts. Haha. I've been waiting 30k km to change the plugs. tongue.gif

They will reccommend you to change brake pads every 80k km. So if you do not change the pads, warranty void also?

You can always argue that the stock plugs are fine. No need to change. If scared, take out Denso, put back stock, go service and ask them to change every 90k km. After change put back in Denso. So with that you have a record at 90k km.

A not so efficient spark plug will not result in engine failure, only a not so efficient engine. If they say your spark plug not efficient and that is the reason why your engine fail, you got to screw that insurance company. My Saga's Bosch normal plug from Proton (changed during first major service) served me 90k km and still running strong. Of course you don't change to a wrong size and dent your piston la.

My purpose of changing filter to Works is because this filter is suppose to last you a life time? A filter change in SC will cost you like 90 bucks? Spark plugs is like 100? For real? A Works filter cost 170 or a K&N at 210. You skip 2 times filter change, you are already start saving money. Denso Iridium is like 190 per set of 4? Also 2 times change, you also get to start saving nmoney.

My humble opinion by the way. Not guidelines.

i can't think of one, common issues are

dashboard rattling noise (kia sc but not permanent, many will just ignore it)
door panel rattling noise (kia sc but not permanent, many will just ignore it)
pull left issue (kia sc)
a bit sluggish in 1st-2nd-3rd gear (update ECU / install firestorm)
a little lag on the pedal when u press especially from standstill (install ETC can solve)

and the biggest problem is

Depending on how you look at it really. I have ocassional dashboard rattling. I cannot replicate. If one day it screams so loud, I will send to SC for full restore.

I have no door rattling.

I have no pull left.

I have no sluggish feel on gears (subjective).

Piggyback effect on pedal add ETC, which I already have.

Any one knows the rule of thumb of choosing a spark plugs?

I have seen Denso, NGK, Bosch. Also, if any one can share the size and model number of the plugs, will be very much appreciated.

Model must be compatible for 2.0.

I'm looking to purchase a used Kia Forte 1.6SX very soon  rclxms.gif . Should there be anything I must look out for when inspecting the car hmm.gif ? Will of course bring along a foreman with me to check but I hope to be able to pin point the problems on my own just in case.

Of most reviews I've read so far, nothing states out of the ordinary. To all Kia Forte owners, your input will be much appreciated.  thumbup.gif

Forte is my choice compared to the City & Vios.

Thanks!

The most important thing to observe is that it is an accident free car. I am not talking about simple knocks or scratches here and there but major damage which has been repaired. Normal layman would not be able to tell. Yes, perhaps your foreman can help in that respect.

Do check the service record to ensure that the car has been serviced regularly according to the recommended service interval. This will ensure that your warranty is intact.

Good luck and hope you get a good deal! cheers.gif

Dear Wilson.
Yes build-in GPS is provided for Forte 1.6SX as well as 2.0SX, the latest variant of course. Not every info is available in the internet, bro. May I suggest that you visit a KIA showroom and check it out . You are most welcome to visit my showroom and would be happy to explain the functions and specs to you.

Cheers,

Also check if any mods done to it, afraid if not done properly may affect the car performance.
