I just checked XDA and I got the affected chip VTU00M


Gonna read more how to fix this..

edit: Ok I'm safe for now as I have 4.1.2 stock

All 4.1.2 official releases (stock) include a Kernel, bootloader and recovery with the Update 7 "Fixes" (or newer) applied. If you have 4.1.2, officially consider yourself "Safe".

Well on XDA said stock 4.1.2 is okay because it have the updated kernels and all..

I'm craving for CUSTOM ROM (I'm a hardcore flasher).
Any good custom ROM with multiwindow support (just noting, not sure if all custom ROMs have this) that you guys used for your daily driver?

I believe so.
Basically those with affected chips (same like me) still have hope.
Those who stayed stock and updated to 4.1.2 stock are safe from this time bomb.

I'm not quite sure about flashing custom ROMs and kernels yet until I understand this fully.
Well, at least stock ROM may be rooted which doesn't affect or re-ticker the bomb.

EXTENDED BATTERY 3600MAH
I recently bought a 3600mah extended battery from brotan store (LYN) for my S3.
Although it printed 4000mah on the battery, I dunno if this is true or not.
Used battery monitor and it shows max is 4255mV min is 3459mV
Can anyone confirm this?

I wanna ask forumers how your stock battery life with stock ROM is?

I tested mine STOCK BATTERY can get roughly around 13hrs with 3G data turned on all the time (with some places goes into wifi mode). Screen on around 2-3hrs.

With the EXTENDED BATTERY 4000mah printed, I got around 16hrs 33m (data turned on all the time with some places wifi). Screen on around 5hrs 2minutes.

Is this good?
I believe my extended should have more life.. maybe I should flash custom ROM and do wipe battery stats?

Yes need to change back case. A bit fatter but I like it. More grip for me.
Too bad the batt doesn't have NFC but I don't use it anyway.

just noticed brotan quoted this battery is actually 3000mah not 3600 or 4000 on the sticker..
I didn't pay attention when ordering..
If 3000mah then should be around 40% more capacity than stock.. so those figures are okay I guess.

BUT I really think I can squeeze more once I got custom ROM flashed in..

Nova battery tester in Google play claims can check real mah too.
But the recent update have a lot of FC.

I only dealt with him once.. first impression okay la.

How is your battery life and how is your usage like?
I just got my S3 and straight buy extended batt.. havn't use it for a week yet till today oso

no NFC for brotan's battery, either the small or extended both no NFC.
If you use a lot of NFC then maybe need to consider lor..

yeah i think better uptime.
Need to use cover, a bit fatter than normal.. but i think worth it.
Another option is to buy those flip case like with powerbank built in.
When you ran out of battery just turn it on and it will charge the s3.
That one I checked cost RM100. Capacity is like 2600 - 3000mah.
So the stock bat 2100mah + another 2600mah like that lor. However i tried using flip case before.. it just kacau me from using the phone. Protection is good tho..

Do you use data? I can see your wifi is turned on..
If still terok I'm thinking of factory resetting the device.. dunno if any 3rd party apps kacauing or not.

By the way, I don't think the screenshot you provided is the 'average' usage of the S3.
I believe this is far by the 'best' battery life you have ever achieved instead.

then got because the documentation was like very large..

yeah me too. I'm still stock and rooted a few days ago
I came from a single core phone (well a dual core most recent) user, but this S3 just blew me away.
Especially with it's multiwindow and motion feature like swipe to snapshot and stay awake and smart display option..

I wouldn't flash custom ROM if my battery life were better.. which I think it should.

Anyway, remember to do a nandroid backup! (Dunno if you guys still call it nandroid hahaha).
I did mine when I first got the phone. At least can restore if something went wrong somewhere.


Hopefully got time and mood to flash Omega tomorrow. I found this useful post by gnarg @ XDA

I am checking out UltimaROM ... seems the thread is more user friendly for newbie. Have youtube on how to flash rom, a simple step by step instruction, plus youtube user reviews of the ROMs as well. Seemed much more simpler than Omega.
