QUOTE(suntzulee @ Oct 9 2013, 06:07 PM) oh thks uncle for clarifying. Will do it later on. btw, why nexus dont have reboot/restart option when i press & hold the power button? Install a custom rom for this and I think there are mods for such too. Usually you flash such mods through recovery mode. Look these up at XDAQUOTE(natzakaria @ Oct 9 2013, 06:12 PM) Yes - now on ver 1.4 |

Stock ROM does not come with those options, need to change the framework or install third party app to have them in the reboot menu, or install a custom ROM.QUOTE(jacktay94 @ Oct 9 2013, 06:21 PM) I bought mine at RM17, pay today get it tomorrow, it simplifies the buying process for me at least so I do not care if it is a bit more expensive than buying from taobao. |

QUOTE(yvliew @ Oct 9 2013, 08:25 PM) Download factory image here, then either use android SDK with command to flash it or use toolkit to finish the job for you. Flash stock ROM will unroot your device and replace with stock recovery too. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Oct 9 2013, 06:01 PM) Read it again how can toolkit be complicated? Is a simple matter of choose what you want n just click Hi Benny,TWRP I feel is better as it backup n restore faster by at least 50% vs CWM. You can select backup to external thumb drive. Backup is one single folder CWM backup in 2 different folders. If you have more than 1 backup no way you can identify the backup in the obb folder. This makes deleting any backup you don't need difficult. I m not too sure whether CWM allow backup to external media as previous version cannot Just want to clarify (a basic thing for some here, I guess), if I root and install a custom recovery like TWRP (assuming I don't do anything else - no other customisations), I won't be able to receive OTA updates from Google in the usual manner, right? If I want those OTA updates in the usual manner, I will have to stick to stock recovery? |

QUOTE(jpaq @ Oct 10 2013, 10:29 AM) Hi Benny, you will still receive the OTA and auto download it but it will fail to install. And it is very annoying that it will keep bugging you to install the update. Just want to clarify (a basic thing for some here, I guess), if I root and install a custom recovery like TWRP (assuming I don't do anything else - no other customisations), I won't be able to receive OTA updates from Google in the usual manner, right? If I want those OTA updates in the usual manner, I will have to stick to stock recovery? need to wait for uncle Benny's confirmation though, not 100% sure on this coz i not yet root both my N7 2013, only the old N7 2012 wifi was rooted and flashed with custom rom. Lazy to do it in the new ones and dun find compelling reason to do so yet. |
