If the gov has evidence... Punish the fella.. Fine the company... It is 40% progress and you are doing retendering. I believe gov is getting wrong advice and look at the matter too simplistically. End of the day, you may save some cost but at the price of so many other stakeholders affected.

I am not going comment about children as it is irrelevant to discussion. You can create thread about project that causing our children to pay the price. Mrt is not the only project.

Worse still is that reneging on a contract of this scale will subject the gov't to penalties and open itself up to a lawsuit from MMC-Gamuda. That will mean compensation to the latter, which, in turn, uses taxpayers' monies for this.

I recall this gov't once promised that MRT 2 will be left alone. Why suddenly decide to cancel the underground portion? Like you, I agree that the gov't, especially LGE, seem to be getting the wrong advice to do this. On the other hand, I wonder if they're cancelling this just because it is a project (among others) approved by the previous BN gov't, regardless if its meant to help the Rakyat or not. hmm.gif

Wow "argument" escalated quite fast yo..
Back to MRT please... And how previous administration songlap here & there.. Make sure the line passby Bandar Malaysia.. Yet now the station No more build πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ™…

Well, they've got to build those two stations up sooner or later once PH manages to get some developer to develop it. I'd wager MMC-Gamuda will just hoard up the portion where those two stations are supposed to be built.

at this stage, the underground excavation is more or less completed and you can't leave the "empty box" there without any structural supports. Not much can be saved from omitting the two stations. the savings are coming fro, their big fat profits i guess.

Not sure what they're going to do with the empty husks of Bandar Malaysia North and South stations, tho. Hopefully both MMC-Gamuda and the Finance Ministry can shed more light on this aside from saying that its cancelled.

in total agreement. this is only causing more people to shun public transport and feeding the vicious cycle

I don't mind a spartan-looking station, but not at the expense of gutting a couple of stations just for the sake of 'cost-reduction'.

Bandar Malaysia North and South stations, I can understand, as Bandar Malaysia's development is stalled for the time being until further notice, but Conlay and Sentul West? So far a quick search did not mention the latter 2 stations being cancelled from official media sources and the MRT website itself. Furthermore, even wikipedia only listed down the former two stations as cancelled. hmm.gif

Got long story behind.
After the new government took over, everything also must cut. Need to show rakyat new malaysia mean business.
Started with LRT3. Omitting out few stations, cut here cut there and timeline also increased to 2024 now.

Next is MRT2. Elevated station part was approved first after cutting down the cost.
But Undergound station faced problem.
MMC-Gamuda proposed to cut those 4 stations away.
Cabinet disagree and terminate the underground contract.
Workers protest.
Re-negotiate and uturn made.
MMC-Gamuda to continue the underground contract with only 2 stations shelf.
End of story.

Seems to confirm what I've been reading on the MalayMail (including LGE being an a-hole at times). Thanks for the clarification and hopefully this will be the final nail in the coffin for rumours of 4 stations being gutted. thumbsup.gif

Either that fella at that skyscrapercity forum is intentionally misleading everyone on that forum or he's just uninformed about the latest outcome.

I thought it looked like a colourful caterpillar when I first saw it. laugh.gif

But personally, I didn't mind the looks.
