Hey guys, I used to use an external media player which is connected to my TV (Sharp AQUOS Quattron 3D LCD TV) to plug in my external hard disk to play videos, subtitles for the videos (.srt files) can be played without any problems, but then I realized that the media player causes audio not to be in sync :/

So I connected my external hark disk direct to my TV and then the audio sync problem is solved. However, it can't play subtitles (.srt) when I press the subtitle button on the remote nothing happens :s , need help, what can I do? Thanks smile.gif (I don't wanna hardcode subtitles into the videos as i wanna keep them free from subtitles)

All the help will be much appreciated , thank u ! smile.gif

Maybe your tv doesn't support subtitles files..have u renamed the subtitles files as the video files..the other workaround is use a pc to play video or buy another good media player..or maybe change your tv to Samsung.confirm can play most of video files with subtitles..(as I'm using one) hehe

This is the problem with most cheap media players and TV built-in media players, their firmware and hardware compatibility with many video formats. Always the best way to play all formats is to use a HTPC. wink.gif

some main files come with subtitles embedded, so you don't see them in the folder. if so, no need separate srt or sub or other types of subtitle files. only if they don't work do you need to find and put srt files in the folder.

embedded or srt files - they come in diff quality, depends on the source. it also about tv or dvd/bd player or media player capability.

srt out of sync - some media players have a lead/lag function for subtitles so you can adjust to get it right, check yr player manual.

finally, try replacing that with one srt file that has same file name or close to it (then rename) from:

embedding subs.. this i think is for pros, those pro rippers, can't help u...

it is strange if there is audio lead/lag with media player but not with tv. either the player is faulty or the file is a bad one. why not just get another file!

It works when i rename it to English.srt. not to the same name as the video files.

Try rename ALL OF THE FOLDER AND MOVIE FILE including SRT file the same name (except for the extension such as .srt/.mp4 etc)

Hope this helps for others.

Just change the ANSI code of your subtitle to UTF-8 or Unicode (both work) and then keep Video file with Subtitle file (both having same names) in same folder.

On very simple way: Open the subtitle file with notepad, and click to "save as", and you can choose an unicode format.
