Doesn't matter if we have the money or not. What matters is whether or not we're attractive enough for these "stellar" players. Money-wise, even Arsenal declared that Wenger has like what, 70m transfer fund? Will players like Messi or Ronaldo want to join them just because Arsenal can afford them?
Who wouldn't jump a chance to play for United? We are one of the most popular brand in the world, playing for United will boost their popularity even more, in terms of commercial and a great history backing them, I don't see why would any player refuse to join United should they come hunting for them? United can offer Bale Champions League football and chances of him winning a trophy will be higher compared to Real Madrid and the plus point of joining United is because we are a British club and Bale is a Welsh, Giggs is a good example. Arsenal is a different story, trophy-less for 8 seasons in a row (not bashing, it is real facts), a real example of RVP jumping ship and won a title within his very first season?
Even if DM is not attractive to major stars, the history of Manchester United tells a story. As they say, no personnel is bigger than Manchester United.
