Doesn't matter if we have the money or not. What matters is whether or not we're attractive enough for these "stellar" players. Money-wise, even Arsenal declared that Wenger has like what, 70m transfer fund? Will players like Messi or Ronaldo want to join them just because Arsenal can afford them? laugh.gif
*
Who wouldn't jump a chance to play for United? We are one of the most popular brand in the world, playing for United will boost their popularity even more, in terms of commercial and a great history backing them, I don't see why would any player refuse to join United should they come hunting for them?

United can offer Bale Champions League football and chances of him winning a trophy will be higher compared to Real Madrid and the plus point of joining United is because we are a British club and Bale is a Welsh, Giggs is a good example. Arsenal is a different story, trophy-less for 8 seasons in a row (not bashing, it is real facts), a real example of RVP jumping ship and won a title within his very first season?

Even if DM is not attractive to major stars, the history of Manchester United tells a story. As they say, no personnel is bigger than Manchester United. thumbup.gif

In modern day football, money is the major factor now. Don't tell me Thiago joined Bayern for footballing reasons, utter BS because Barca has lesser midfielders than Bayern and it would be easier if he just stayed in Camp Nou like that wouldn't it?

As much as I like Thiago, missing out on him wouldn't affect us much. There are other experienced players who we can pursue, but I trust DM has a few targets of his own. Come on David, bring on a stellar signing. Fabregas would suit the bill?

On the side note, our tiny rivals lost 2-0 to an African side. So Citeh fans will say #PellegriniOut? Lol

Afro really usefull, can be our next ulility man, despite DM he can play striker too, RVP Rooney Wellbeck Chica not very good in the air, might usefull in certain game.....and with his height and roughness maybe can play CB too, as we know no matter how many CB we sign all of them will get injured at same time

Aside from CM might be nice if we can get new pacey winger right now, Bayern team very scary, in certain position like CM and wing even their sub better than our 1st eleven biggrin.gif

Agreed but you know, the German league is not very competitive. So basically the only rivals are Dortmund only? Only Europe to play for.

ohohoho. no it isn't.

I have to say German League is very competitive. Leverkusen, Dortmund, Schalke, Munich, Hamburg. It's like EPL, but with even more unpredictability.
*
Hmm not forgetting Borussia Mönchengladbach but the league lacks the appeal of the Premier League in terms of commercial income and popularity as compared to Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle United etc. As you've said, something like EPL, but probably still growing larger. But at the moment, the German league is pretty much a two-horse race as predicted as the last team to win out of the two is Wolfsburg who won it in 2008-2009 season. Much alike the Spanish League between Barca and Real Madrid. Will defo change in future of course tongue.gif

if SAF believe moyes can inherit his legacy...what makes u doubt...u doubt SAF judgement then...'what makes a man A MAN'...SAF doesnt ask him to be his successor...he tells moyes...U R THE NEXT MAN UTD MANAGER...still u dont hear his speech...our job now to berdiri tegang behind new manager...that what i will do...

pre-season is for preparation for long season...i believe we will see the fruition in the new year the heavy leg that we put vs singha...im happy with the workout comment from rio ferdy5...

signing wise...im happy with current squad...if someone comes...then...let it be...moyes said there will be signing...no name r given out...his 1st season is to familiarized with the squad...he has 6 years contract...get the players trust to fight for him...to win for him...i bet we will continue our success under moyes...till be up n kicking know the club run inside out...

if u want star signing or potential tabloid signing to show off n big talk like other club...pls join them...i bet u r the new age fans...probably below ur 30s...its normal kid nowaday a lil bit un-patience...they want instant success like sugardaddy club...marquee signing...while man utd tradition is continuity building for future n be successful in every competition...

I am below 30, I feel sad nao sad.gif wuuuwuuu. But I've been supporting United for the past 11 years, never doubted the team during their lows, especially when Chelsea and Arsenal were dominant then, somewhere between 2004-2007, kept my faith and Fergie never let us down.

I never believe in instant success. Every manager needs to start from scratch. Why Chelsea and Man City can win the title one year and suck the next? They lacked a good foundation and balance of chemistry within a squad, which requires a few years to build.

And one speaking of Valencia and Young being average players, yes they may be average but occasionally they are unique in their own ways. The best investment for United now is the Da Silva twins, Januzaj, Zaha and Phil Jones. These players will develop fast and who knows, in a few years they will be superstars? Rafael is one of the best right backs in the league right now. Not world class yet? Only in his early 20s.

ya,not every world class player turns out good..look at a certain spanish striker in chelsea (although they won the CL wit him, hahhaaa) .. rewind a few years back..i'm sure 9 out of 10 of us here would prefer to sign torres than hernandez..including me..but who would have thought this unknown striker from a little club in mexico would transformed into one of the world's top poachers? wonders of football

When Chelsea signed Sheva, everyone thought they will dominate the league. Turned out, Sheva was a joke. HAHA. Expensive flop indeed. And Arsenal, signed Arshavin, another flop but before Arsenal one of the best.

And not to mention, we need a certain amount of homegrown players, league requirements. Thankfully, United has more than any other top clubs in the league smile.gif

Speaking of Fabregas, I don't see it possible. Barca losing Thiago, Villa and Cesc in one window? Impossible unless they sign another midfielder.

United controls the game at times when the opponents are hunting for a winning/equalizer, you'll see them passing around the middle and back, most importantly, dictating the tempo. Unlike Barca where you'll find 9707900767 passes before it reaches Messi, but when your opponent counters that style, just like what BM did in the CL, Barca were a lost cause. 7-0 on aggregate, fancy that?

Regardless of how 'off-form' Rooney can be at times, you cannot doubt his relentless energy he gives every game that he played for United. Sure his stamina is well off at times, but you can always see him running back to defend and attack when needed, this type of players are hard to come by anymore.

I believe Rooney is being poisoned by his agent, to swindle more money out of United. But the Glazers are smarter now, it all boils down to Rooney's performance this season (if he stays), then they will consider to offer him a new contract, otherwise just let him run down his contract, after all, 24 months is quite a long time.

Watching Rooney play for another club is unjust. Rooney needs to stay.

Media story = words from the media based on assumptions and personal opinions which may defer from actual quote.

Media Release = directly quoted from source who made a public announcement.

Two different ways to create a conflict that is why, media stories are just to entertain us, the one that we should be more interested in is the media release, if no media release from Wayne regarding his position at OT, why bother speculating that he will leave? Those are just 'stories'

PR class made into good use (although I am not majoring in Comm) tongue.gif

Funny when Rooney was once critical when United did not sign any superstar, which he always wanted. After United signed a superstar in RVP, he became in-secured and unsettled. I cannot brain Rooney's logic now.

But then again, if Oscar was included in the deal, Oscar+15mil, take it! Mata 's role is quite similar to Kagawa's role which may cause conflict (IMO).

But, ROONEY MUST STAY! Come on Wayne, be a good professional and fight for your place in the team, there is no such thing as no pain no gain. Earn it and you will have your rewards.

if im moyes, I'll take Mata and the 10m without even thinking twice.

Mata is better than rooney in most dept
*
I'll have to disagree on that.

1) Rooney is an engine. He has more stamina than Mata in every aspect.
2) Rooney can play in many different positions, more than Mata.
3) Rooney's strike accuracy is better than Mata.
4) Rooney has more flair than Mata.

and still counting. smile.gif

Most importantly, Rooney is there when you need him. Defending, attacking, you name it. Have you ever seen Mata running the entire field, get possession back from the back line and bring it forward? Nah.

I have to disagree especially on the bold part. Old Rooney, yes. He has the work attic but last season Rooney looks lack of determination. His mind seems to be somewhere else.

I would take Mata anytime.

As I've said before, there is no official statement from Rooney requesting to leave yet, so it is not up for us to judge his professionalism based on media stories. Don't recall any article stating that he wants to quit United no? So we are in no position to judge. I believe Rooney is a confused lad, his agent is one of the main factor of this, his fallout with SAF was the reason why he performed badly last season, who knows under Moyes, he will regain his old form again?

Modern day football is based on greed and money. Pity that the Rooney that was once a Old Trafford hero is now a hated figure for some blatant media stories about him wanting to quit the club where there is no truth in it YET.

Again, Rooney is a United player. Respect the things that he has done and achieved for us, don't let these media stories make up rubbish and get all personal about it. Pretty sad to see that some of the forummers here are so critical on their own player although there is still no truth in the story or speculation yet.

Anyway, there's a Spanish source stating that Ronaldo has arrived at OT and to be unveiled to the media at 3pm UK time today. Ronaldo then responded with this:
