Have you guys experienced the infamous issue of s3 mini keep restarting itself??
I've been trying to find a smartphone to get (my first smartphone, never touched a single smartphone in my life) with the SKMM rebate. So far it seems like S3 mini or S2 (if it's at RM800+) are within my budget, but I read about the whole constant restart issue with S3 mini.

I have been using this phone for 3 weeks ( or more ),  I didn't face the restarting itself problem yet. It is smooth for me. A very nice phone, no lag at all.

I see, thanks for the replies people!!

Been such a pain trying to find a decent smartphone that fits my budget. I never owned or played with a smartphone before... so have zero clue about smartphones. Was researching until almost broke down and cry rclxub.gif Someone say Windows phones are crappy, that I shouldn't get Lumia, another said Samsung firmware is crap and screen is crap, I should avoid S3 mini. Another say another thing. Just piss me off.

Oh yeah, so how is the firmware? You guys using 3rd party firmware or the factory firmware?

Well, you can make your own choices after a good evaluation. Be the smart consumer tongue.gif

jakgelap here has been a very kind and patient guide to the new owners here and it's a really good thing for this thread to have.

s3mini seems fairly popular with the ladies due to the size. Specs are reasonable as well.

Haven't heard any complaints about the screen.

I see, thanks. The thing is because I never used a smartphone or owned one, really have no idea how to go around doing an evaluation about it sweat.gif So much more complicated than computer for me.

i just used the original firmware. most people now use iphone or android phone. but for function and free apps, should be android phone  brows.gif . for s3m price, its totally overprice for mid range spec(should be rm600-700 more reasonable price) rm900+ samsung ripoff  mad.gif . but for quality, the phone is good. better than my lenovo P770  sad.gif

Hmm... so do you recommend S3mini? Now that you mentioned the price, it kinda put me off a lil from getting this. But so far I only found this and S2 being decent and within my budget. I have a budget of RM900 and SKMM Rm200 rebate. Still a student and using my first salary to get a phone... that's why been such a pain for me. Want to find a phone that can last me for 2-3 years for basic functions since I don't play games on my phone.

S2 was the samsung flagship at 2011, most of s2 spec are better than s3m, but now s2 a consider outdated phone  sad.gif . s2 vs s3m, s2 win  rclxms.gif . cuz i have both phone and s2 just got new firmware update to 4.1.2  nod.gif

Outdated in terms of? Sounds like S2 isn't outdated in terms of firmware if it just got updated.

Edit: Oh wai... I meant S2 Plus... S2 is still RM1k+, S2 plus is RM800+ only

phone already out for more than 2 years, it will stop making part for the phone, when it needed fix, there no part to be found  sad.gif

I see... that's why it's still RM1k+??

What about S2 plus? Read reviews say it's the same as S2 in many ways but somehow RM800+ only

The xperia phones i have xperia arc, xperia active and xperia pro. Xperia arc beats s3m smile.gif. For L and SL haven't try yet sad.gif.

Just gathered info about both xperia phone. Sl are better than l. Both are better than s3m smile.gif.

Thanks so much!! I need to think this over. Tried S3mini and SL/L just now. Found out S3 mini screen is more vibrant, but SL and L seems to be faster (and bigger screen). Preferred S3m screen, but feels like Xperia could last longer for me

s3m have a super amoled screen  nod.gif . but for just basic used of phone, s3m already enough, but to feel satisfied using an android smartphone, better spec will give better experience  thumbup.gif .

btw, what is your max price budget for the phone?
*
RM1000. I can get Xperia SP for RM1000 because of the SKMM RM200 rebate. Planning to get my phone from Sen Heng (because they accept rebate and have better free gifts), so I don't get the privilege to get cutthroat price from 3rd party sellers. Still not sure which phone to get yet
