RFT has very stiff sidewall, so the comfort is not very good but handling and steering response should be sharper. For daily drive, I'd not use RFT especially on roads which are not that smooth since the ride quality suffers. I'd just go for a good normal tire, much cheaper too.
As for the tire brand, it all depends on how much you want to spend. I think an already well proven very good and safe choice is the Michelin PS3 and it has your size. It's comfortable, quiet, very good grip in the dry and wet (tread wear 320, traction AA). If you want much cheaper one but still offers good performance (good value for money), you can try GT Radial Champiro HPY (tread wear 300, traction AA) which also have your size. A well known forumers in Zerotohundred already uses this on his turbo car and gave good recommendation on it (he said the only downside is the sidewall a bit stiff but considering you're already used to RFT, this should not be a problem I think).

225/45 has thinner sidewall by 1.1cm compared to 225/50, so your ride height will then drop by the same amount, the ride comfort will be noticeably stiffer/less comfortable, and your meter reading will be less accurate since the overall diameter is smaller by 2.2cm (speedometer will show higher speed than actual, and odometer will show higher distance traveled than actual).

Yes, I'm using that tire now! Well it's not very cheap to me, for similar class the GT Radial Champiro HPY is much cheaper. But I agree with the rest, it's pretty good performance in the dry/wet and pretty good ride comfort too, but a bit noisy.
