Hi All,

I own a nikon d90 + 18-200mm lens + 50mm lens + sb700.

Now, that I'm moving into parenthood, I'm considering to either get rid of my SLR & get a M43 OR Keep my SLR & get a good quality Digital Camera.

Could you please suggest a good camera for low light, indoor shoot. Mainly going to take shots of my baby smile.gif

Budget ?
If no budget, get Hasselblad / Leica tongue.gif

Your dslr actually good enough for baby shooting.

Was contemplating between those 2. RX100 or Nex7. Wondering if Sony will win against all the other models like LX7, XZ2, GX1, ahh soo many in the market, making it so difficult to filter down. rclxm9.gif

I'm also interested with wide angle. Hence a camera with wide angle option will be good.

D90 is not a big dslr, if you seldom use it you may find it troublesome. Its also an excellent body, no problem with low light and furthermore you will mainly use to shoot your baby, so the speedlite SB700 and 50mm lens is good enough. Save the money to buy good quality baby milk.

haha, that's a good one biggrin.gif
Indeed d90 is a small body. But once fix with 18-200 lens + sb700, its Huge!!

For baby shots, you dont require 18-200mm...you need 50mm for that potraits shots and it will produce nice bokeh. Keep the 18-200mm..you may use it for group photo, it very versalite lens. If you dont play up to 200mm..sell it off and replace with tokina 11-16mmf2.8...you get wide enough for whole family shots especially when taking those birthday cake cutting shots.

i think Nex7 more flexible compared to RX100, since your budget is 3k max go for nex lah xD.. or if you want a smaller size dslr then those entry level like d3200/d5200, the body is quite small. and since you already have the lens and speedlite, so why waste tongue.gif

Thanks guys for worthy feedback. After going through the inputs, I thought I'd go for a digital compact camera on top of my d90. I'm not going to get rid of d90 & spend on a micro third lenses & flash yet again.

So, I'm down to is it RX100 or something else biggrin.gif

... I personally think a pancake lens will just do but D90 is a little backward on its ISO handling of natural light, after all even power flashes are all big and bulky which ever way you would look at them ...

I recommend keeping your DSLR and get a compact camera like the RX100.

DSLR's great when your kid is still in infant stage or at home.

But when they starts to walk and when you're outside, then the hassle begins.

When my daughter starts learning to walk, she refuses to sit tight in her stroller so imagine this... my wife will be pushing the stroller laden with bags of kids stuff and I'll be chasing after my daughter.

Shooting a dlsr with both hands while crouching down to kid's height with camera bag getting in the way is no fun.... by the time I try to shoot off a photo, your kid either ran off to timbuktu already... or fall down and starts crying laugh.gif

And when you have 2 kids like me........ doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif ... DSLR is impossible.

So for me, the RX100 is a godsend.. it's balanced enough for one handed operation and its powerful enough for low light and indoors.
