AVEXIR Core Series 1600Mhz 4GBx2 (Dual)

Part no : AVD3U16000904G-2CIG (Green LED)
*This review is done by goldfries.com

Attached Image

The computer setup used for this review.

Processor Intel Core i5-2500K
Motherboard MSI Z77A-GD45
Power Supply Xigmatek NRP-PC602 600w
Test Software Memtest86+ 4.20
*No OS, just the bootable Memtest.

Below is the BIOS configuration, with RAM selected at 1866 which somehow the BIOS will run it at higher spec. *image taken from previous RAM review*

Attached Image

Below is the result.

No vDimm boost on the setup. It’s just a change of clock speed and RAM ratio. Passed no less than 5 rounds of test because I tested it before I went to bed.

The following are the possibilties
a) the RAM could go even faster (Mhz) with the same setting.
b) boosting vDimm would push the speed (after hitting the ceiling on point a) even further
c) at the same settings, it is possible to run it at tighter timings.

Performance aside, the heatsink design is nothing grand but the RAM itself is beautiful once the LED comes alive.

Avexir Core Series 1600Mhz 8GB Green LED

On the downside – the RAM is TALL! It’s not surprising though, the additional height is required to accommodate the LED. While standard profile RAM sticks could still fit under a huge heatsink by an angled insertion, the same method is not possible for RAM of such height as there is no clearance between the RAM and the heatsink.

Attached Image

Overall – it’s a great set of RAM for those who want to max out the speed of RAM.

Hey was wondering ,so did you mean that this RAM will collide with Air CPU Cooler Fans ? Specially big ones.
Did you OCed this RAM to 1866 ? From the pic above you shown , it's still at stock 1333mhz.
I had XMP Profile 1 ON , so my RAM is running @ 16000 but still CL9 timing.

Was wondering if it's ok to OC this RAM to 1866 but still @ 1.5 V

Actually i went and search , I saw a review ( forgot which one , was too many reviews i seen ) someone actually OCed it to 1866 @ 1.5V

But the speed anything above 1866 and even @ 1.65V it could not boot up.

So i guess it's maximum is only 1866......I think i won't try to OC it , doesn't seem like a good RAM for OCing...

From few of the reviews i seen , the Core Series 1600 ones , can reach 1866. Not any more than that , even if it's @ 1.65V , it will not boot up.
But I forgot which review you have to dig around , I went through many....

i see. but 1866mhz is already sufficient for a mid end user. to be honest 2400mhz ram compare to that you wont feel any difference in my opinion.

and the price is like really cheap and you can choose the colour according to your theme. good ram by the way i think they selling 2x4gb @ RM 190

really good price

Yeah about it running over 2000 mhz , I heard from many even experts ,that it will not have performance difference when come to gaming.
Except Benchmarking , that will surely make a different.
But I be honest , if your a serious Overclocker / Benchmarking , my advice is to look somewhere else , there are lot better RAM out there TBH.
This to me it's more of an eye candy RAM + decent performance for gamers.

But I heard that AMD FX series must be least 1866 speed to actually have a decent performance for their CPU. Never really dig deep about this. Since Im using Intel myself.

Hmmm I bought mine recently for RM 209 from LingLoong , now I think couldn't get this price , I heard there is a RAM shortage , so price are going up like mad !
Just like my Corsair Vengeance 8GB @ 1600 , I bought for only RM 165 back in January 2013, now they are selling over RM 220 -260 !

Check out this article.

I plan to get another 8 GB Kit from LingLoong on June , hope could get a good price ! For now he say it's for RM 209...
