I have this problem with my tyre. The outer side tread ( as shown on the pic ) is almost worn out rather than then it become worn out evenly the whole section of the tyre. It happen to both the front tyre. FYI, my car is a 2 years old Toyota Altis still with the original set of tyre and donning close to 30KM now and I did all the alignment regularly with the toyota SC all the while.. So, Izzit anything to do with the alignment or wat. Anyone know izzit this normal coz i had not this kind of situation with my previous car tyre. Tyre pressure. Haha..my wife..i wish she is the dare devils some times.... Ok..tyre pressure..i am sure is not the issue coz i always check it...like once in 2-3 weeks. so it could be the camber setting..i am noob here so can you pls explain more on this..many thanks

QUOTE(^pomen_GTR^ @ May 13 2013, 10:33 AM) dhile they did your alignment and camber...what was their setting?? i'm afraid too much toe or +ve camber did this to your tyre I might trust the Toyota SC too much..never checked what they did and i can say also that u will really frustrated most of the time coz when u highlight your problem to the mechanic, they either give u some long face and answer you half hearted or worse they seem like don understand the language.

QUOTE(acbc @ May 13 2013, 01:59 PM) 2 years? Time to change la. Opt for used tires or even China made ones if seriously low on budget. I'm using brand new China made Good Ride... as long can stand 12 months, I'm ok already. After all, in 1 year, even with good tires, I have to patch 10 times and spend 4 times doing alignment / balancing. And since car is hardly use, cheap tires will do. No need Toyo or Falken. OK ..its time to change...just feel sayang abit coz the inner tread still very ok..China brand..ok o not..actually i'm looking for something 300 - 400 / pcs..i did travel occasionally with my family so i can't compromise on safety for sure..

QUOTE(6UE5T @ May 13 2013, 05:53 PM) Yeah, better not buy China brands yet, with that budget there are plenty of good choices. If you want to save a bit, can try GT Radial Champiro, those are good value for money, offering pretty good performance at cheaper prices compared to well know brands like Michelin, BS, BY, Yokohama, Dunlop, Toyo, Continental, etc2. But make sure you fix your alignment or else you'll have the same problem again like now. OK..i will check on this tyre..i oso need to look for good tyre shop to do it as well. I am abit doubt on my regular shop actually..hmmmmm

QUOTE(awyongcarl @ May 13 2013, 05:59 PM) Contrary to the popular belief, camber don't actually wear tyre down that much or fast. Even at negative 2.5-3, it still won't cause that much of obvious one sided wear lol. I can assure you that the toe is the culprit here for your case. The feathered worn pattern shown on the picture is the dead giveaway. I had the same problem on my Civic's stock tyre as well (Michelin Pilot Preceda) And this happened after I sent my car to service in Honda Service Center and they asked if I want to do tyre rotation and alignment. Never ever trust any service center to do proper alignment job for you :/ But that's just my opinion. Wow..after only i google what is toe-in, i understand your point now. Thks bro for your good tips..certainly will check on this toe-in things..

QUOTE(terradrive @ May 14 2013, 10:53 AM) I thought for symmetrical tires, we should reverse the tire if the outside thread is shallow? From the photo we can see the right side is bald while the left side is thick. Of course don't do this on tires with rotation marked. My car also the same, you can actually see that area is subjected to high concentrated stress and traction when you look at how the car turns into a corner The photo is an extreme example but you can see how it affect the tires, the weight of the car went to the outside side of the tire. So can i just reverse my tyre now so tat i can have it for longer time. As i mentioned, my car is rarely subject to hard cornering but i do travel occasionally thru Karak highway and the most doing like 100km/h..

QUOTE(azbro @ May 14 2013, 05:03 PM) TS Actually, you can't get a perfect worn tires...if you do, than great for you My car also suffers from this...mine even worst, outer and inner worn off....even I so pump in more and do very regular alignment. But end of the day, whatever it is, even if it worn evenly, at that state, you still need to change it....dun kid yourself...your tires are bold....change it TODAY!And as for the uneaven wear, go do it at another shop. Nowadays I see tireshop got alignment machine...but actually, do they really know how to do settings? Yaya..i was looking for a new tyre now..this weekend ( only weekend i have time ) i will go to my regular shop to do some survey as well as try to ask other shop. BTW..any good recommendation ard Puchong town...

QUOTE(amduser @ May 15 2013, 10:16 AM) did you rotate the tyres every 5k or 10k KM? anyway a good suspension or alignment wont wear off the tyre like this and camber angle hardly go out of align unless got accident according to my workshop mechanic, he told me that when i go and change to adjustable camber the only thing i can think of is the toe alignment I did do a rotation at 10KM if not mistaken ( everything done at Toyota SC ) but i always doubt whether they did the things that they said they'd done.. Accident, 100% free ( no bluffing coz i'm not trying to sell my car ) but masuk pothole ....who don't have this !!!

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ May 17 2013, 08:38 AM) Bingo. Right on the money. Problem is Toe. TS, The thing is, the SC's alignment machine might be out of alignment as well. When was the last time they had it calibrated? Your toe will never be 0.0 degrees. and this is why. When they set the toe to 0.0 on the machine (assuming its correct), Also once you load your car, your alignment settings will all change. They will still take the car out for a test drive. and since our roads are fairly badly crowned (for water evacuation) they will manually compensate with toe adjustment to the right. Sometime that goes a little off and this is what you self. I'm running 2.5degrees negative camber up front and 1.5 at the back and my PS3s lasted 40k km. My rear has toe out 0.5 degrees and it wears faster (don't ever use this setting unless you want a really tail happy car). for the explanation..
