LM expensive ler. Sometimes I don't know which way to go. Try leathers/other notes. Go for indie fragrances. Hunt down vintage. Aiyah. So many things to do...

Today was in da mood for sum leather sampling. Parfumerie General DjHenne and Ramon Monegal Mon Cuir.
DjHenne has cumin!!! ACK! ACK! ACK! I hate cumin! Luckily the cocoa note is strong, can cover up. So it's like there are spices in the background Don't sniff your arm. The cumin will jump out! Sniff from a distance quite nice. Delicious.
Mon Cuir in my opinion makes me think of green leather. It's green like herbs with some bitterness but yet it's leather. It also starts of quite soapy. Just reading some reviews on Fragrantica that says this has a rubber leather note. Ah yes yes. It's strange one for me. Maybe because of the rubber note. Must try that Bvlgari Black again one day.
*
Haha mon cuir also quite expensive... Have u try cuir from carner barcelona?

nah... one thing i like about leather frag is that it is a love hate affair.. is either love it or hate it... well in my case..

The only leather that i like is no other Tuscan Leather lol...

SOTD - City Oud

SOTN - City Love

Just wanna share my experience with roses since Jan this year...

My must buy - MFK Oud Silk Mood (very smooth lush sirap rose with oud undertone) , Lumiere Noire Pour Homme (Spicy rose, Mr Francis will change ur mind abt cumin), Le Labo Rose 31 (yes i know, i love this not because of the rose, it is the pepper, cedar, oud, incense combo drydown tat rocks for me)

Love but not yet FB worthy - Tom Ford Noir de Noir (Dirty choc rose, reason being very hard to find the right time to wear), L'artisan Voleur de Roses (lighter ver. of NdN), Lyric Man (very green soft rose with light incense undertone, very well done), Dueto City Love (rough oud silk mood), City Oud (rose been tone down compare to City love, but still strong, oud is there)

So So - Guerlain Rose Barbare (honey rose, nice but expect more), Cartier Declaration Pour Un soir (Rose 31 on budget, it is a very good designer scent)

Pending arrival:
- POAL
- Tom ford Oud Fleur
- PG26 Isparta
- Phaedon Rouge Avignon
- Armani Rose d'Arabie
- Atelier Rose Anonyme
- Czech and Speake N88
- Czech and Speake Dark Rose

Although perfumes are tax-free in Malaysia thanks to Budget 2011. I still find perfumes at Malaysia airport duty-free a little cheaper. Take for example, BdC and DHI that I checked few years ago at Kuching airport duty-free are slightly cheaper than Parkson Kuching by about RM10 +/- if not mistaken.
*
well in the end i think it is still depend on how the company wanna set the price... coz most designer brands not diff in price wheater at airport or mall...

Looks like you're on the right track there. Keep pumping the irons!

SOTD - Tardes by Carner Barcelona (sample)
To my nose, I pick up almond, tonka bean and musk. I generally don't like heavy tonka bean but this one is added at just the right amount the scent actually smells really good. Looked up fragrantica and found out that heliotrope actually has almond facet. I don't really pick up the other notes they may be well-blended I think. The nose behind this is Daniela Andrier, perfumer of my favorite Prada Amber Pour Homme. Although marketed for women, this can easily be unisex IMO. All in all, it's a gourmand-ish nutty almond with a musky background scent. It has moderation projection and longevity on my skin. This one's probably not as popular as D600 and Cuirs from this house but definitely worth a try I would say.

Thanks bro for ur indepth sharing... Im interested in trying their cuirs

That's really nice! STC has those for sale too but I opted for cheaper regular decant option.

Just filled up their questionnaire. These are some I wrote, haha...

1. What qualities would you like your fragrance to convey?
Strong yet elegant. Complex yet simple. I love fragrances that can capture moments in time like photographs.

2. Why do you wear perfume? To seduce, to refresh, to add a final touch...
I see perfumes as an art form. I wear them to appreciate their beauty.

4. Which perfumes have most marked you?
Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens is currently my crown jewels. Oriental Spicy is my other name.

8. Where do you live?
Malaysia but I enjoy wearing "winter" fragrances.

You're welcome! I never know what myrrh really smells like. Really, is it rootbeer? Can you describe it please?

And by the way, my SOTD is a sample of Tauer Incense Rose. Thanks for swapping with me t0n3!!!

I'm really enjoying this. I don't get any rose at all! So Edward, don't look here! LOL! It starts off on my skin with loads of mandarin orange + incense. And it somehow reminds me of a Chinese temple! Don't ask me why. It's fresh but a 'dry' scent. I don't know if that makes sense. I like my scents dry sometimes. It fits the hot weather. There is also cardamom in the background. It's not harsh or sharp at all. I think it adds a lot of character to the scent. By lunch time, I think frankincense makes an appearance and the cardamom gets sweeter. (Even at this point, still no rose or maybe I'm just really really bad at detecting notes and I don't know a rose when I smell one???). Most of the times in my head I know the scent smells familiar but I never know what it is. Then I head over to Fragrantica and read the notes and comments and  icon_idea.gif "Oh, that's it!" Yup. Very bad at it!  unsure.gif I really am wondering, where is the rose???

Longevity wise, it's still going... and sillage is not too bad. I don't need to stick my nose to my arm and smell. I get wafts of smokey incense almost continuously.

A simple calculation here:

After the conversion, the shipping should be RM120.

Each sample vial is 3.5ml. For three vials, you get 10.5ml of elixir.

Thus you are paying about RM11/ml. The price is still alright if you would ask me.
