I am using an old Q5 4k3D, any benefit if I upgrade to Q10 pro?
Btw, just subscribed to Netflix, will Q10 pro run netflix on 4k if I connect it to 4k TV?

q10pro... just to say... i have updated firmware from 2.1.0 to 2.1.1.

all is good, no problems.

don't really know the details of the changelog but i think the subtitles skipping issue is fixed... haven't encountered the problem so far.

Firmware 2.1.1 already rolled out so fast?! I've just upgraded to 2.1.0 two weeks ago only. Lol

Dear Customers,

Sorry for the late, it took me couples of attempts tp upload of the file due to my poor internet speed. The firware 2.1.1 already avaibale in Onedrive, please find below change log of firmware 2.1.1 including the subs problem mentioned by AVFAN:

1. From settings, user can select:power-on to boot or power-on to standby
2. New Happycast App version
3. Solved the problem that when watching live TV, to press the power-off button probably cause the box dead
4. Solved the problem that if there is a blank space, the SMB share path cannot be mounted
5. Solved the problem that SMB cannot be accessed to the shared space of Win10 system
6. Solved the problem that SMB cannot be accessed to the shared file, of which title includes special characters
7. Solved the problem that the LED display probably does not work after the upgrade.
8. Solved the problem that adjusting the volume during Youtube playback caused the system to hang
9. Optimized the video player to solve the problem that some subtitles are flashing
10. Optimized the video player to solve the problem of not being able to switch proportions when playing video
11. Optimized system stability and solved the problem that some machines occasionally fail to boot
12. Optimized the HDMI compatibility, and solved the problem that when exiting the video playback on some amplifiers, the TV screen is flashing
13. Optimized NFS compatibility, solved the problem that NFS shared files cannot be played caused by the too deep path

kodi18 is official.

if u had installed an official 17.6 version, it will get auto updated to 18.

unless u stop all updates at playstore settings.

i do not know how kodi18 will affect other q10pro users but for me:

.. the remote control does not work anymore, need remapping**; use of mouse is fine.

** need to remap the remote... not so difficult:
.. need mouse
.. settings/system/input/configure controller
.. choose tv remote
.. follow instructions: for each prompt, press the key on remote.
.. impt: ok (select) and return (back) functions are switched, so press correctly.
.. ok it, done.

.. for quasar users, u will get IO error after auto update/migration, no good, not usable, await new version.

Alternative is Elementum addon which is similar to quasar.

Just bought 4k LCD TV and connected to my old DTS home theater system.
Currently using Q5 ii I think, any benefits if upgrading to Q10 pro?

I will watch mostly 4k movies.

the way it works... source->box->avr->tv+ home theater speakers.
Q5ii is very old, can't do a lot of things, incl playback of 4k, 10bit, hdr, has problems with some DDtruehd tracks, some subtitles.
still, for a 7-8 yr old box, it is still blardy good for playing back 1080p, incl BDMVs, dtshdma - this is rare for such an old box.

now that u have new 4k hdr tv, u should get q10pro.
it will play anything u feed it with.
BUT... your avr of home theater is old... Q10pro will set it at max 1080p and dts/dd only.
4k, hdr, hd audio will be downgraded to what the avr can handle, i.e. u will not get the best video/audio.
now, since avr can only do dd/dts, u have nothing to lose by connecting q10pro->tv via hdmi, then tv audio digital output toslink/coaxial->avr.
this way, yr tv will do 4k hdr but audio will be just dd... and dd+/dts if tv has the capability.

get new box first, then get new AVR/home theater.

My AVR can't process HDMI signal, just pass-tru, my setup will be TV box -> HDMI -> 4k TV, and TV box -> coaxial -> AVR.

Err correction, setup is TV box -> HDMI -> TV, then TV-> optical (PCM) -> AVR.

Anyway, I tried to play Bluray files (not remux, the whole Bluray folders and files) on my Q5 ii, I thought it will play just like a bluray disc but no, it doesn't play on menu, and m2ts files very lag.

Anyway, what is the most preferred file format for 4k source?

q5ii does play those full 1080p bdmv ok with mini menu but u do not get full menu.

such an old box, apa lagi mau?! biggrin.gif

q10pro does full menu, 1080p or 2160p bdmv m2ts or iso, with auto frame switching.

mind u, not many boxes can do full menus or even mini menus!

those, u need to navigate to actual m2ts file to play.

and most can't even do dtshdma or ddtruehd, let alone ddatmos and dtsx.

file types... since yr avr can't do hd audio, u may wanna save space, find smaller 4khdr 10bit files.

full 4khdr bdmvs are best with full menus for video and audio but are big.
