Any of you guys mate a 5470 with ssd yet?
i bought 5470 (rm2149) laptop.. then bought myself Crucial m500 ssd, but the ssd wont work. I called up dell, they say 5470 got 2 kind.. 1 is 5470 notebook, and 1 is 5470 ultrabook.. somehow the rm2149 is notebook, thus does not support SSD. its kinda stupid excuse, but heck. anyone manage to get it anything work? or should i just get mSata? |

QUOTE(azerak @ Nov 15 2013, 09:56 AM) 'dell' technician said, the one in ultrabook series. probably gonna have stickers..IMO, dell is just giving lame excuse.. my 7 years old pc can use SSD with no problem lol, why newer dell cant support. At first, they even try to convince me how SSD port is different than sata. lol |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Nov 15 2013, 04:04 PM) does not make sense. The bios will hang, thus no further testing. You mean a full SATA Crucial M500 SSD? And you swap out the HDD with the SSD? Should work without any problem. btw, did you clone the HDD content over? Is the UEFI set to ACHI? Bios simply wont get past through if m500 SSD is plugged in. |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Nov 15 2013, 09:48 PM) what do you mean BIOS won't pass through? There is no such thing Spam any bios button, it wont go into bios setting. The laptop will stuck at black screen with dell logowhen you press the power up button, quickly press F2 or F8 or F12, it will lead you straight into UEFI (BIOS). QUOTE(-kytz- @ Dec 4 2013, 12:41 AM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjIPTCDos_k i dont understand what the video are trying to show.. is it a fix?One of the comments mentioned: "it doesnt support boot from ssd, u need to boot on hdd which then divert to ssd" What do you think he meant by that? Divert to SSD? Anyways, I believe the video shows the same problem skysoblue93 has had. Hopefully he has resolved it and can provide a detailed explanation on the process no i cant use my ssd. (as said by dell, my one is not build to take ssd) secondly, the problem not on my part. no such thing as not fast enough to press f2 and what not. the laptop just hangs and no further option. (takes 10 minutes to display bios setting, and still says no primary hdd connected). Dell said to me, there are chances where ssd will be able to boot. u need to test which ssd is able and crucial m500 is not the one. |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Dec 7 2013, 01:48 PM) I understand you did not clone the HDD to SSD. read properly where i said, bios hang, even it if doesnt, it cant detect ssd. 'Detect', not boot. SSD is non-existence to the system. So before you take out the HDD, did you change the boot sequence in the BIOS, from HDD 1st to USB drive 1st? If you do, then you can boot using an USB drive. Try that. (do you know how to make a USB boot disc?) Now, swap the SSD with the HDD. Make sure the mode is AHCI and not IDE. Now boot the laptop using the USB boot disc. Install OS on the SSD. To your question. 1. I cloned hdd to ssd. 2. I know how to boot from usb 3. I did try to boot from usb with ssd inside. Either the bios cant event boot to usb, or booted. but Windows installation cant detect ssd drives to install. 4. I tried all bios setting to pair with ssd. ahci uefi legacy ,anything wont work. theres no ide for this laptop. 5. I can boot my desktop while paired with the ssd, but not my laptop. thanks This post has been edited by skysoblue93: Dec 8 2013, 11:27 AM |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Dec 8 2013, 11:26 AM) No BIOS in this world list "SSD", it's all HDD read post above. Can you confirm you did not follow the step I suggest? If you don't, how do you expect the laptop to behave after you just take out the HDD and swap in the SSD? when i said bios cant detect ssd, i mean drives. Primary Drives : no primary drives thats what it says in the bios.\ as in the video, the laptop DOES detect the ssd as intel blabla.. mine just say, No Primary Drives This post has been edited by skysoblue93: Dec 8 2013, 11:29 AM |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Dec 8 2013, 11:26 AM) No BIOS in this world list "SSD", it's all HDD To change the bios setting, i had to put hdd.. there no way for me to change bios setting while ssd in is the bay.Can you confirm you did not follow the step I suggest? If you don't, how do you expect the laptop to behave after you just take out the HDD and swap in the SSD? I did read you post You mentioned you took out the HDD and put in the SSD, and after that you could not get into the BIOS. My suggestion is that you change the BIOS boot sequence before you take out the HDD. You don't need to be so stuck up, you know, I am just trying to help. If you don't like it, fine by me. Take care. Yes i did try your method. no stuck up here. edit : ill post some pictures for you in an hour. ill replace my hdd with ssd and take some pictures edit : heres picture - Stuck forever here [legacy] - Stuck 30 mins here (f2 have been pressed, notice the "entering setup") [legacy] - stuck forever here [uefi] - stuck here 30 mins. f2 have been pressed. Notice the entering setup [uefi] - manage to get into bios setting afte]30 mins. See 'Fixed HDD'. - Legacy Setting usb as 1st boot. - uefi settingIn all conditions, usb boot drive are plugged/not plugged. This post has been edited by skysoblue93: Dec 8 2013, 12:59 PM |
