nvm buddy, as long as "5460" we can smile when sitting side by side with Mac Air user.
even though the performance cannot beat Mac Air, but to be able to match 75% of Mac
Air design considered as power already tongue.gif I go yumcha with hubby at starbucks, people
asking about my model more than his Mac Air.

What should you do when you get Dell Vostro 5460 on hand?

1. Windows update until max.
2. Nvidia update until max. Accept beta release.
3. Download & install "Dell System Detect"
4. Download & upgrade "Dell System Bios"
5. Download & install "Belarc Advisor"
6. Download & install "inSSIDer for Home"
7. Download & install "Tune up utilities 2014"

I assume 14 working days? 6 days + 6 days + 2 days = 14 days = 3 weeks.

I think you should call Dell:-

Home & Home office Systems Sales 1800-88-0301

Small Business Systems Sales 1800-88-0038

and ask them why late for the delivery. Just demand
must receive by this week by Thursday or Friday.

QUOTE(shawnme @ Oct 8 2013, 11:59 PM)
Well, since the 5470 do not come with a dvdr..and I would like to create a backup with the fresh laptop so that I can clean up the entire computer one day if I want to..something like a reformat on win xp.

But I notice that I could only use a flash drive that will make it a bootable flash drive. I don't really want to sacrifice an entire flash drive just to keep the files in the drawer. Is there anyway I can temporarily transfer these files to a cd so that one day when I need it, I can easily transfer it back to a flashdrive for booting and reset purposes?
*
2 different methods:-

A. buy mini external dvdrw RM50-RM150 (depends on your budget) and back up.

B. fresh laptop backup needs at least 20gb, so cd or dvd is not advisable. you
must get an external hdd. backup it there. to make it safer, zip/rar it and upload
to any hosting so that you can download it anytime - anywhere to use it later.

there's lot of user waiting for Dell 5460 / 5470 review all this while
why not try to boost your sales by provide us comprehensive review?
exactly like what MSI sales person did in this thread
*
I'm a normal user / seller that works for IT company. Most of our re-selling
products are Dell, hence I know a little bit about Dell system or operations.
Not as pro as the real Sales Rep. It just a nickname though.

face the SAME problem as well. If you buy a car, your RIM make an

so far no problem yet. Not only Dell, asus hp toshiba msi acer and other
also will face their own problem. Thats why in the first place manufacturer
provides WARRANTY smile.gif if confirm no problem, they surely provide 9000
years warranty, correct?

Damn Win 8.1 makes my HDD feels even slower..

I will not hesitate to upgrade to a SSD..but right now, the price is still too high for a reasonable storage space

I created a partition , will this slow down my performance causing slower HDD?
*
my 5460 runs so fast with win8.1 though. not sure why you're having this problem?

Hi there, thanks for the advice.. I looked through dell's support website. Apart from a whole bunch of things from dell that is either slow or not working, the latest for BIOS available is A01.
*
click here bios A07 (vostro 5460)

IF you're using vostro 5470 then all you can is just wait for an update -.-!

5460 / 5470 users, so far my unit is not facing a single problem at all. When it arrived FRESH & VIRGIN from Dell, I just ran the windows update and setup all except languages. I think the best way to have a better system is to share what minor-major software that we BOUGHT / DOWNLOADED & INSTALLED, not the one already inside the system such as McAfee. Here's mine:-

1. Microsoft Office 2010
2. TuneUp Utilities 2014
3. Dell System Detect
4. Dell Backup & Recovery
5. Ccleaner
6. inSSIDer 3
7. BlackBerry Link / Desktop Manager / DDPB / BBSAK / Sachesi
8. WD Security, SmartWare & Quickview
9. Bit Torent (Run actively 24/7)
10. Belarc Advisor
11. Mozilla Firefox (Customized about:config)
12. Adobe Illustrator CS5.1
13. Dell Quickset
14. K-Lite Mega Codec Pack
15. Apple Bonjour & iTunes
16. Adobe Flash Player / Shockwave / Air
17. Ricoh Aficio MP C2500 drivers
18. Intel Control Center
19. Java for Windows 8.1
20. Opera Browser (customized setting for download purpose)

That's all wink.gif As for start up, only few enabled to maintain the speed of boot up. TBH, I'm an "UPDATE FREAK" woman because I will always spend 10 minutes of my life everyday to manually check if there's any update for my system or software.

because of the weight.i went to the PC Expo at mid today.tested both.inspiron is definitely much heavier than vostro. i might choose the feather-light vostro than the looks of inspiron so it seems.  sweat.gif

QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Nov 2 2013, 07:43 PM)
inspiron is 2 kg while vostro is only 1.6 kg.
but inspiron is thinner compare to vostro.

yeah me too is deciding between the two.
*
for me i prefer vostro 5460, my personal suggestion only. anyway, for 5460/5470 user with windows8.1 that are using intel centrino 2230, update your wifi firmware now. click >>>> latest version
