Hawkish so many extremes? Extremely short battery, Extremely Hot?

BTW, Amazon seems to have gone global availability. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 has a really good screen....if it could be hacked like the fruit co's 2560x1536 screen it will be fantastic, as I have a notebook with a miniDP port.

Sadly the Kindles are all locked down tight courtesy of TI OMAP.

A perspective from an indie app developer about ad blocking software:

Can I point out that Ad Blocking Apps don't harm Google anywhere near as much as it harms independent developers. And for full disclosure I should tell you that I'm an independent developer. I have made and launched two very successful games, for free. I have over 200,000 installs, and I should be making half-decent revenue from advertising. Unfortunately, because of ad blockers, my revenue is very small. Like, $20 a day.

In short, it's small individuals, or independent games developers, that you hurt by blocking adverts. And what will happen? We will have to charge for everything, and you won't get free games and apps anymore.

Just an indie app developer side of things, in case anyone's remotely interested.

Alright. If they can rip you off, and they have, they won't even be bothered to entertain your complaint unless you raise hell in public.

Your exchange posted the other day shows they didn't outright lie to you because you asked the wrong question.

At first I thought, "oh that's really bad" ....then.... since Adblock software only works on rooted devices, this means that, let's say, 75% of those 200k devices are rooted.

This means that his app didn't get out from the techie crowd?

Or, assuming only 25% of those are on rooted and adblocked phones, then ad revenue is THAT bad?

As a blogger running on SEO, perhaps you could shed some light?

btfan

About the sonic vibration. Ok it's there even with the thick case. However I never paid any attention to it until you brought it up.

It's not an issue.

Just trying Orange Backup again, now version 8.10, really nifty. I'm trying it on my Mediapad because it shuts down if I perform a TWRP backup.

Easy nandroids from within the OS.

Oh, a warning from Carbon/Helium backup:

Note: Some Sony devices have issues with Helium. This includes the Xperia S and Xperia Z. Sony has *disabled* backup on these devices completely.

=============
So for whatever people blame Samsung for, I personally consider them still to be a lot more open than other manufacturers.

It's generally good to have everything updated, but after you've been in IT a long time, you DON'T update until sufficient idiots beta testers have gone over it.
