What's going on with Google bloatware recently? On my devices I have several Google Apps in quarantine (disabled) that I don't really use, e.g. Google Earth or Google Play Movies. Magically those apps got updated automatically and are active again. To explain this further....
There's a feature in App Quarantine that notifies the user when an app is no longer in disabled (usually after an update). This was a feature needed during the 2.x days when apps were updated even when they were disabled. So I could automatically (or interactively) put them back in quarantine. But since 3.x/4.0 Android finally respects disabled apps, e.g. doesn't update them when they were disabled, so this feature is no longer needed.
Now few days ago on my Nexus 7 I was really surprised when the App Quarantine notification suddenly showed up and notified me that Google Play Movies is no longer disabled, and today the same happened with Google Earth.
I know the Google Play Store updates itself automatically in the background, and probably also the Google Play Services framework, but I did never see any Google apps updating themselves.
Anyone else seen such behavior? What's happening here? I had plans to remove said feature in a future version of my app, but now I guess I have to think twice before doing so! This is still a behavior that should be controlled by my app... oh I mean by its users
