Sound quality overall is excellent across all genres, although I found that rock, jazz, R&B, and classical were a bit more impressive than hip-hop. That is not to say that I wouldn't use these headphones to listen to hip-hop and electronic music--only that the sound quality of the M3's is not a major improvement on the M2's when listening to hip-hop. This can be attributed to the fact that canned beat box and computer generated samples simply don't lend themselves to taking advantage of the M3's chief attributes: tight, but not boomy, bass and detailed analytical sound quality with a wide soundstage. Put on some lossless 360k rips of Vivaldi, Dave Matthews or Led Zeppelin and you're in heaven!
