Hey guys, between Denon C260 and Sony MDR-EX220LP, which sounds better? I prefer bass and mid. Both prices are very similar.

Hi, anyone use DENON AH-C260 here? I have very weird feeling towards this earphone. Before I bought it, I've read very positive comment about it and with asking price of RM118 with shipping, it's quite a bargain. But when I first use it, it sounds like crap. Exactly opposite as what others said, it has no bass at all and sound are harsh. I used on my Galaxy SII and it sounds horrible, worst sound I've heard. I use on my desktop and it sound slightly better, same as my iPod Touch 4. After 30 hours burn in, it show very small improvement. I've changed the tips with all the size and it just sound not much different. But the story change when I used it on my laptop. (Lenovo Y400) I set the EQ towards high and bass and the bass is very deep and has very clear high with good mids. The bass feels punchy and well suited to electronics, works well with Lounge too. And then I tried on my friend's devices and it has no soul in it. Bass is lacking terribly. So, any C260 users here, mind to share your experience?

it might be due to the drivers being slightly hard to drive, try getting an amp for it, not all IEMs are easy drivers to sound well, S2 IPod Touch 4, Desktop sound card, laptop sound card are not up to the standards of decent sounding, they are bare minimum, EQ not recommended

the best combination is always external usb dac + external amp to IEM, but you can start with USB DAC + amp combined

I really unexpected a budget earphone are so picky. I think it's quite susah to carry an amp around so now when I choose phone, really limited already. I heard people say Galaxy SIII has very nice sound, Wolfson DAC, but my DENON sounds like crap too. The only android phone can drive my DENON is Xperia Z1, with bass mode on. I try on my laptop and software EQ does a lot.

perhaps different music taste, u might be a basshead maybe? all about bass and nothing but a big bass can satisfy you?

Used to be, until I used mt 1st Audio Technica, which is very light on bass, I prefer balance but with slightly bias towards bass. Problem is my DENON sounds like a laptop speaker, very clear laptop speaker, so you understand. How you guys think about ATH-SJ55? Thinking of getting myself a pair.

I already got one, but I want something original so I won't be shamed if I wear them in the public.

Can anyone tell me is there any decent headphones store in LY Plaza?

And what would you guys introduce for
<200
Only smartphones and laptop
Prefer Japanese brand, or any model from any brand which emphasis mids like the Japanese brand does.

I tried before Beyerdynamic XP series. IMO the bass is too strong even for XP3.

I've tried before Shure. I forget what model is it but it's like over ear about RM240. TBH thhe sound is quite ad coming out from smartphone. I want a easy driven driver like most in-ear and yeah I forget to say that I want an in-ear. I've tried a Kipsch and the treble is killing me. One of the I-E that impress me a lot is Sony XBA-40. I've never heard something with amazing details and excellent balance.
