What to look for when buying earphones?

I mean the basics....specs.

Hz, Khz, Db, Ohm, mW etc.

I realized that I really enjoy the sounds of musical instruments in background of a song.

Like the eletric guitar, cello, violin etc.

Maybe you guys can share which earphones (NOT headphones) has that kind of effect.
