Im in a dilemma again. Im currently using pfe012 with green filter. Looking for a headphone with similar sounding but with a wider soundstage and better detail.
I listen to a wide variety of songs.
So here is my list.
DT770 vs AthM50 vs COP vs drvr150.
My rig: Galaxy note 2

Any thick forward midrange sounding IEM to recommend?
i loved the shure sound and not sure if the SE215 can produce them since many review said that it is bass heavy
Tried the PFE012,dont really like the sound
Budget around RM300-400
Do recommend any other IEMs also.
Source is FLAC with direct laptop and note 2. Willl fund for amp later

- Your rig (Note 2 or PC couple with AV Receiver as an amplifier)
- What type of usage (pure music, got more than enoguh headphones for gaming)
- File format used in your source (16bit 44.1k FLAC files)
- Genre of music you listen to (All type)
- Headphone/ earphone type (Open or semi open)
- Other requirements (if any) (none)

Guys which suits me better, have a few in mind
-DT880
-AKG K/Q701
-HD600/HD650

Listen to all types of music so preferably balance sound
Im not really a super analytical listener, looking for something musical
will fund up for JDS O2 Amp later

I just take my plunge with HD600. thumbup.gif Highly praised... And combo with Aune T1. I really can't wait they come to my door step.

you having HD600 now? Whats your current pairing?

Had hd650 and now using q701. I prefer hd650 for music because it is very lively. For movie and gaming I prefer q701 because I want to listen to the dialogue and footsteps.

how about the bass? which one is stronger?

Hello there. Thanks for the reply. How about the HD598s then? Will it be fine for the criteria above? By the way i scrapped the idea for RS180. Been reading too many complains about hissing and stuff over the net -.-

HD600 sounds loud unamp direct from my pc port
but for full potential it will always need an amp

Hi bro,

I am a total noob to this.

i read a few comment and thought about the Ak 550,

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...004&hl=AKG+K550

i Also checked this page and saw it only cost RM890.

I was also wondering about BOSE headphones.

But again i would like to get ur understanding before i purchase.

I like to Listen to slow & acoustic type of musics, once in awhile R&B.

Budget is around 1k
*
Better listen to the k550 before getting it
The bass is light and tight but not punchy, it excels at instrumentals and soundstage
Never tried bose but im guessing its more targeted towards mainstream musics

I can't belive I'm asking this, but well, here it goes.

Any recommendation on headphones for me to pair it up with my Xonar STX?

Currently using the DR150 and the MDR-1R, I did read some reviewers says to tried out some of the higher impedance headphone to really bring out the STX true potential, but I don't really know if that's true.

If possible, I would like to keep it 400 and below, but I could stretch a bit if the option is the best choice

Requirements : Comfort (I do wear glasses) , I do prefer the sound signature to be neutral, with a bit of emphasis on lower bass, and smooth highs. Wide or expansive soundstage.

Mdr-1r is good enough
Since you have an open back headphone as well i recommend you save up more for an upgrade than a sidegrade
And high impedance headphone dont usually come cheap laugh.gif

Lol edited, I mean the 10r, not 1r  sweat.gif , is the MDR-1R has significant difference with the M40x? or if even lower one the M30x, because both of them seems very good.
But reviews online for the M40x is completely neutral sounding doesn't really emphasis on the lower ends, unless I'm wrong about that  sweat.gif
*
I own the older m30 and m50 before and i heard it has a slightly different sound signature
But sound wise m30 sounds much more less bass than the m50. The m50 also has a wider sound and a stronger bass
But since you are looking for high impedance headphones can look for the dt770. Since you dont have a dedicated amplifier i dont recommend getting above 100ohms version.

yea I have to agree that gaming headsets does compromise audio quality a little too much rclxub.gif
aiya I don't want something that will look like a dang toaster beside my ears biggrin.gif google imaged those and was like blink.gif
I'll check on the Superlux series. Thanks!

did a brief google on Superlux: what are monitoring headphones anyway? Most reviews say that they are not as suitable for music listening icon_question.gif
*
Suitable or not depends on the user
Some enjoy them some dont

Thanks for the explanation!
Monitor headsets seems very interesting but I think most of them are out of my price range rclxub.gif just did a brief check on Sennheiser HD650 and it costs around rm1.4k sweat.gif
you have any recommendation for me? Or just the best headset you think that have a budget around 400~500. Thanks biggrin.gif
*
judging from your previous post you'll have to look for closed back headphones
btw whats logitech g410? is it g430?

its the noober version of g430. g430 comes with 5.1 (dolby? i'm not so sure) and the g410 does not.
*
if like that wear the headset on your neck for the microphone
and get a better headphone
Thats what i do laugh.gif
BTW, 1 thing i noticed is some headphones seem to have the left and right frequencies messed up. One thing to consider if your games depends a lot of it.
I worked with a lot of gaming headsets and it doesnt have this issue but some music headphones i had have them

You mean the Xonar STX is not capable of handling high impedance headphone? dt770 might be out of my league due to its price, but I will consider the M50x. Between the M50x and the AD900X, which is better for home listening? Sound, comfort, and durability
*
go for ad900x since you are using it at home
after reading the specs of the stx, i think its capable
my apologies laugh.gif
