Thnx still got any option as well? How about westone 4, sony ex 1000, shure 535

Those you mention has well exceeded 1k.
You could also check out TDK BA200, UE900, Vsonic. You can try them out at Jaben.
If you don't mind customs you could check out 1964 V3. Sounds close to your preference, would recommend Quads but you'll have to stretch your budget a bit.

To me it's on a different level, but everyone has different preferences smile.gif
And Final Audio Design has a different sound signature than most, so it depends what you prefer.
E1-AKG has demo sets. You can contact him.

Hey guys, looking to get myself a christmas present  tongue.gif
Tired of using my Apple EarPods. Had previously owned Sennheisser CX-200 and a-JAYS Four. (Both cable problem)

Budget : RM500
Rig : Laptop and phone
Usage : Music & Movies
File Format : Streaming on 8tracks mostly (MP3 and FLAC for fav songs)
Music Genre : Very wide, everything from classical to hip hop
Earphone Type : IEM
Other Requirements : No need, looking for the best bang for my buck in terms of SQ

Currently eye-ing on SHURE SE215 for ~RM300. I prefer earphones as most of the time I'm listening to music when I'm out. What would you guys buy, given a budget of RM500?
*
You can also take a look at RE400
If you could increase your budget a bit, there is also TDK BA200, Vsonic GR07, DUNU DN-1000,

- Your rig (mp3 players, amps, sound card etc)
Samsung S3, S4

- What type of usage (movies/ gaming/ music etc)
Music.

- File format used in your source (i.e. flac, mp3 etc)
MP3

- Genre of music you listen to (classical, jazz, metal, etc)
All except classical, opera those type

- Headphone/ earphone type (closed, open, circumaural, IEM etc)
Prefer Earphone only.

- Other requirements (if any) (mic, volume control, 5.1ch, 7.1ch etc)
Mic if got then better, but not very important. Same for other function.

Budget - RM300-500.  How big is the difference in quality between RM300-500 to RM1k++ earphones? And stock Samsung earphone to RM300-500 one? Noticeable by normal user?
*
There is a difference.
The difference is bigger if you are using a better souce and lossless files instead of mp3.
But if you prefer to stick the mp3 through your s3/s4 then it's not really necessary to spend so much on earphones since you'll be limiting the earphones potential.

That means a stock earphone is more than enough?
*
Definitely not. Especially Samsung stock earphones are one of the worse I've ever heard. Apple stock earphones are much better.
You should go to Jaben and test all the earphones there so you will get the idea of how the sound differs in all price range.

Guys just a curiouscity,

if change HD 650 to HD 800 isit big improve or directly to Audeze LCD 2?
which has better improvement?

does it sound really different from AUdeze and Sennheiser?
*
650 to 800 will be quite different, 650 is warmer and bassier while 800 is brighter. There are some who found it too bright as well.
Haven't heard the Audeze so can't comment on that =/

Hmm that mean there are no mean for me to get another upgrade. i like warm and bass sounding. I tested HD 800 in Singapore with their full ifi range(including itube) definitely tone down the brightness. and its more comfortable with tubes. I tested Benyerdynamic Flagship, T1, i tell u i straight throw away.. lol even with tubes amp

Havent got the changes to test Audeze LCd 2 and LCD 3
*
You could try HD700, supposed to be one of the most comfortable headphones and the signature is in btw the HD650 and 800. Like a bridge btw the two? smile.gif

- Your rig: xperia z->fiio e12
- What type of usage: music
- File format used in your source: spotify and flac files (spotify most of the time now)
- Genre of music you listen to: buying this headphones for classical music ONLY
- Headphone/ earphone type: closed and over ear
- Other requirements: best if comes with mic and does not need amplification, otherwise, no mic also okay and can be driven by fiio e12, this headphones are for portable use
- Budget: 1500+-

My hands are itchy to get some new gear but actually im unsure whether i should buy a new dac and amp (fiio e18 or beyerdynamic a200p, fiio e18 is out i guess because it cannot be stacked with my phone because xperia micro usb output is on the side sleep.gif)

otherwise, im looking for a pair of preferably headphones (close and over ear) or earphones for classical music ONLY

this is because i found that ue900 mid is veiled and has an echo effect which is nice for vocals but not for instruments sleep.gif like piano, every note is like played with sustain pedal stepped on all the time

thanks very much
*
Sennheiser Momentum? Does well in both classical and vocals.
IEM maybe FAD Heaven series or Sony H3, Dunu DN1000, Cardas, 1964 V3

Hey guys need some advice to what headphones to get.
I'm using this mostly for music and movies/tv shows.
I'm staying in US now so I have access to most brands.
Currently I'm just using some noise cancelling earphones but sound quality so-so only. (bose qc20i)
My preference is decent sound quality, looks good and portable.
Budget is around $300-400 USD.
Here are my options so far
-b&w p5
-b&o h6
-sennheiser momentum

if you guys can suggest anything better or cheaper, please go ahead.
*
Viso hp50.
Cheaper than Momentum but SQ is just as good.

Tested the DT231, yup....bass isn't that strong.

However I tested the XP series and find the XP2 is best among other XP series.
XP2 rocks!

be careful though, durability and build quality is poor. Seen many users complain of theirs breaking down in less than a year.

and need to ask you this bro wallabies, im thinking to get the hippo mook amp to pair with my colorfly c3 and my upcoming astrotec ax35. do you think its worth the investment ? or should i save up more and buy higher end amp. more iem is coming btw so its not only the ax35 it will be pairing in to. (some of it will definitely be the heaven II and gr07 tongue.gif)
*
A popular pairing with C3 would be C&C BH amp.

Thanks for the heads up....

But it should be covered by the warranty?
*
Lol I've seen people changing it 2 to 3 times and still end up with a lemon, IMO if their quality is that poor I don't think having a warranty will be useful since you're left with a dead one after 1 year.

What you need is a balanced headphones for kpop. Not just good bass, but clear mids and highs are important as well wink.gif
For games more towards mids and highs especially if you like playing FPS types so you'll be able to pinpoint footsteps sound and direction as well.

Your rig: Surface Pro, Desktop and Smartphone
What type of usage: Mostly gaming and youtubing, some music
File format used in your source: mp3
Genre of music you listen to: Mostly classical
Headphone/ earphone type: IEM only (planning to carry around with Surface, and not looking weird)

Budget: <RM800

Newbie here. My experience with the best headphone I ever owned is the wireless stereo headset for ps3 and that's all. Never tried anything that's better. The problem is that headset faux leather crack and shred miserably within just a few months.

I want the IEM to last at least for the next 3 to 4 years and hence the big budget (hoping the earbud will not shred like the headset). Is my budget overkill for my basic use? I'm considering seriously on Audio Technica IM02. Is RM800 sufficient for this model? Is there any other worthy or better competitor model to look out for?

Last question, is there a thing that can add a mic to the IEM without sacrificing the audio quality? How do you use IEM that doesn't come with mic to answer calls? icon_question.gif  notworthy.gif

Notes taken, thanks. To be honest, I have no idea about the actual value of output impedance of laptops and smartphones. This info is not available on the internet.

Without a doubt, IM 02 for the money I'm paying is definitely a good buy and it's actually not that much money in the world of audiophiles. Considering this is the first ever IEM I ever bought in my life, I think starting with IM 02 is the right decision. Hope this is a good investment and last for at least next 3 years.  biggrin.gif
*
Most smartphones output impedance are below 3 ohms, usually around 1 ish. Your IM02 is rated 36 ohms, and as a 'general rule', IEMs using muti-BA drivers should preferably be less than 8x the output impedance of your source. Hence for smartphones rated 3 ohms, your IEM should not be below 24 ohms.
As your IM02 is rated 36 ohms, you don't have to worry about impedance issue.
However i find following that rule strictly a bit silly as all IEMs response differently.

Generally it's damping responsible for the frequency response of a particular IEM, especially for BA-based + multi drivers IEM. In order to overcome in a basis without too much of unwanted response or distortion, better keep the impedance at a better lower level, for IEM it's still better to stick to a source which has below 1 ohm output impedance.  nod.gif
*
That might be ideal, but i find even sources with 3 ohms performs well without altering frequency responses with most IEMs except for very few like SE846 rated at 8 ohms. But IMO hearing with your own ears is still the best measurement. I know some who prefers the synergy and changes for AK100II rated at 2-3 ohms with SE846 more than their <1 ohm sources.
